Tire Repair Kits?
Hi All,
I am driving a 2011 X5 50i, with upgraded 20" wheels, NOT run-flats. I asked below about the emergency spare. Not sure that it is the best option, however. When I consider the slim odds of suffering a flat, and the fairly effective (I think?) tire repair kits (with the sealant and the compressor/pump) out there, maybe the repair kit is a better/lighter/smaller acceptable option? I hear that something like 15% of flats are not reparable with these kits, but 85% ain't bad, especially in light of how slim the odds are of getting a flat in the first place...And then there is also AAA or Roadside Assist. On the other hand, some claim that the sealant destroys the tires, while others call bull on that so long as you get it cleaned up and properly repaired promptly. Anyone had experience with these repair kits? What you reckon? |

AAA Plus.
I'm not a fan of any of the fix a flat options out there. The thought of spraying liquid goo in my tires and onto the wheels kinda bothers me. I often wonder if wheels will need to be re-balanced due to the fact that you're spraying liquid in there and it's going to solidify and congeal in one place. AAA plus will (and has) taken me to many a shop/dealership/home. My only beef with them is that i's a crapshoot as to how long you wait before they get to you. |
