E70 Rear Strut Mount Clunk?
Has anyone replaced RSM's on their e70? I'm noticing a pretty obvious *clunk* noise from inside the cabin that seems to be coming from the top of the drivers side strut mount. I'm mechanically inclined, but curious as to whether I should DIY or just bring it in to a mechanic.

The mounts are immediately visible when you lift up the rear storage area so should be super easy...should be. You don't have third row seating do you?

Oh man, that's confidence inspiring! Just might need to do a little looking around under the rear storage area. And no third row seats for me.

You will still have to lift the vehicle, take off the wheel, unbolt the damper from the lower control arm "swing part," then unbolt from the storage area, the damper should fall out. Then you disassemble the damper/mount and install the new mount and reinstall the assembly. I'm sure I missed something, but that's about the jist.
Are you sure it's the rear mount though? The damper could have failed or body mount cracked, or the support guides shredded, or the spring broke. I'd check out real oem and inspect/compare. Worth doing a thorough inspection before you start replacing the wrong parts. I've had to return new suspension parts I didn't need at great expense.

I have a clunk on mine too but I/dealer can never seem to recreate the problem and rarely occurs time to time. Usually low speed going over bumps or curbs. I may DIY this too if you are able to solve it from this. Keep us updated!
