Do, or do not. There is no 'try'.

2011 X5 50i EPA gass milelage
Finally found the answer to what gas mileage the new 50i is rated at!
14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. Not too bad... better than 12/17 for the X5 M but not nearly the 17/25 of the 35i... For reference... X

M is much better than the 50i from a handling perspective. I just got out of an 08 E92 M3 and the X5 M does not disapoint......Steve

I saw a 2011 X5 50i on the road in Austin, Texas this weekend; I was driving on 2244 in Westlake when I pulled up next to it in my 35d. I did not know they were out yet but there it was in all of its LCI glory.

The only way a 5.0 will get 14MPG city is if the engine shuts off at stop signs.
Also, any "slight" agressive driving will yield 11-15MPG tops. The EPA figures require you baby the car a lot to achieve them.

I am also getting 18 MPG at 80 on long freeway drives. Not much worse then my M3......Steve
