Found this after an oil change

Found it at the bottom of the oil drain receptacle. Any ideas? Definitely a clip ear, but does the inside of the engine actually have plastic clips in it?

I dont know where that clip came from but was disappointed when I opened my oil fill cap when it was new and saw plastic gears inside...

Well sure enough, dealer isn't sure where the part is from. The techs' recommendation?
It making noise or running bad, so leave it alone. Or pay $800 to tear it apart looking for the culprit.

This sure looks like part of one of your chain guides.

What makes you say that? Have you seen clip ears on the chain guides of a 3 litre?
