New iDrive Professional (609) in 2013 X6?

The pricing guide posted in this board has the iDrive in the 2013 X6 listed as the new iDrive Professional (code 609). Can someone out there with the 2013 X6 confirm that it is, in fact, the lastest iDrive/Nav system?

2012 BMW X6M  [0.00]
It is my understanding that X6 will not get the new iDrive system in 2013. I have noticed that BMW often uses the same option code even when an option has been enhanced or upgraded. I believe there was a posting on the main Bimmerpost site announcing when various models would get the new iDrive and X6 was not listed. Given that they were refreshed this year, it would not surprise me that X5 and X6 would not get the new iDrive until the complete redesign in a year or two. Weird things happen happen though, as in 2010 when the improved iDrive was essentially the only change (that I know of) for the model year.

I'm not sure what the difference is supposed to be, but I have a 2011 and a 2013 X6 so can explain what I see as different (maybe this will answer the question?)

Hardware is identical visibly - Same buttons, control dial, etc.

Screen menu is different, but I expect this is only software. It has option for "Office".

I've updated my iPhone with the Beta 6.0 op system and it works "nearly" perfectly

Full access to all contacts (I have a lot, prior BMW never showed full list), calendar, Twitter, Facebook, Texts, etc.

Only issue is that I can't display e-mails. Which, is not really an issue as I would not do this while driving regardless.

Both my '11 and '13 have the same HUD displays also - not the new (color) version in the 6 series.

Overall, I find the iDrive very fast and functional. Eager to learn what the "new" version has if I don't already have it.

Hope this helps!

Here is the link to a description of the next generation iDrive:

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=691510

It is now on the 2013 5 series and will be out in the 2013 3 Series with November produciton dates. I was wondering, since the X6 just got an LCI for 2013, they would have also added the updated iDrive. However, reading x6Hawkeye's response, it seems to be the old system.

After looking at the link, I would say I have the old system (X6 built in 8/2012).

To be honest, not "significantly" different.

Most functions look identical, but GUI is jazzed up a bit.

I still show album art, twitter, texts, etc - but I did notice the new version has "DragonDictation Drive" -- that looks outstanding! My X6 will read texts to me, but I haven't found a way to dictate responses back.

Live traffic looks a little prettier, but I imagine same functionality. Overlapping weather on map is pretty neat.

I like it a lot.
I wonder if it's retrofit-able on 2011 X6s...

Have you guys seen this?

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/07/11/b...ion-infotainm/

The knob controller is now a touch pad where you can input gestures.

On a side note. I have 2011 X6. I hate the navigation system.
It hardly shows street names (shows only 1 out of every ten streets). This gets really troublesome when I need to find out what street it is.

This has never happened on Google Map nor Garmin.

That's strange, mine does show all the street names. Maybe you have your height per navi setup too high?

2013 New iDrive Manual

Does anyone have a link to the PDF of the new iDrive and Navigation Operators Manuals? I've searched Google with no results. The owners manuals for the 2013 vehicles are now on BMWUSA.com, but that only covers the car and refers you out to the separate iDrive manual and the Navigation/Communication manuals, which they do not provide on the site. Does anyone have a link to a PDF for these manuals?

My new 550i GT M-sport is just off the boat this week and I'm waiting for it to arrive at the dealer. I'd like to read up on the iDrive and navigation ahead of time. Appreciate any help.

The code (609) is the same for the new iDrive and old one. The only vehicles which got the new iDrive for 2013 are 7 Series, 5 Series Sedan and GT and Active Hybrid 3.

The new system, is faster, smoother, a bit more simpler. The NAV actually says the street name, instead of saying turn left in 200 ft.
