Seatbelt alarm

Can anyone verify whether is there a seatbelt alarm on the front passenger seat of my X6 35i. The driver seat is activated when the seatbelt is not use but not the front passenger seat. Is it normal? Is X6 designed to be like that?

There is a sensor in the passenger seat, if it senses enough weight it should go off.

There is an alarm and I don't think it can be disarmed. When I put a briefcase (or my dog) in the front, it chimes until I fasten the seat belt. If anyone know is there is a silencer, let me know!

This might be a regional thing. In mine if wife, backpack or anything with enough weight it will chime.

Funny, it suppose to be a safety item so why regional thing? when safety is concern it should be worldwide right?

In the US different states have different laws in regards to how old and what weight a child can be to ride in front seat.
