Question for X6 owners

Hey all. I've owned 4 M3's, just sold my 2009 M3. Wife has 135i convertible. Here's my request. I'm going to drive a X6 5.0 Friday and Saturday to see how I like it. What are your likes and dislikes, things to look for as owner/drivers of X6's? Any help is appreciated. I'm trying to decide which vehicle to order. I'm partial to M3's, but I've grown tired of the growth in weight and length of the latest body style M3's, I know the X6 won't drive the same but love the look, wife likes it also. May, for gas mileage and cost look at 335is, but don't really want to. Thanks in advance!

I just ordered my second X6, another 3.5.

I am NOT a racer and it is my daily commute. The one being traded has 60K miles. I love the car, though, I did have the HPFP issue, and the software was reprogrammed along the way.

I got one of the early ones, taking delivery 4/2008.

They have a special look and they are rare to see on the road, though a few have creeped up lately in the area of Phila.

Considering the price of gas is rising, and that the 3.5 has PLENTY of power, you may want to consider YOUR situation and costs going forward.

You will LOVE the X6!

It handles like a 5 series and has the clearance of an X5. Both engines get it up and moving with no problem. It never gets old driving one.

I would say it handles even better than 5
I drove 5 with Dynamic pack on the event and X6 50i right after
I could not believe how tight and responsive X6 was
Everything about that car is great
I'm in love

I would say it is a beast and attention gather! The only thing is..its steering is kinda heavy due to the wide tyres it using, other then that, I love it!

I just got mine a 5.0 less than a month ago with a little over 2400 miles on it and love every minute!

I just can't stop driving. I had m3's, 911's, mini's and others and all I can say is you get the best of all in a serious car not to be taken lightly.

It's nickname is Vadar..for obvious reasons.

Peter, are you from the MV forum with your Tamburini?

Similar to csimon, I've had my 35i for about a month (PDC was on 12/15). I'm almost at the end of the break-in period - it has been really, really hard to be good.

Ask your SA for an X6 with the full sport package (ie, including adaptive drive) and the 20" wheels. In terms of handling, that setup will show you what the X6 can do. Unreal for a vehicle that large.

One obvious caveat: you won't get the full performance capability out of the summer 20" performance tires at winter temperatures.

Quite a few people have bashed the X6 for not fitting in an established vehicle category. I think its a great combination: great handling, more than enough acceleration to get into trouble, SUV ride height, very comfortable for four adults, and if you need to, you can fold down the rear seats for a trip to Home Depot or Lowe's.

Be sure to share your thoughts after your test drives.

Yup, those heavy steering is a pain sometime......another is those backup camera, don't even think about seeing anything at night. You can also feel the car is very heavy in auto mode. Only come with 2 seat in the back.

If you like the X6 5.0, build it like you want it so you arent left with any regrets, IMHO. Also, if you really add a lot of options, you will be closer to the X6M than you might think. Before you decide, try to drive both and see the difference. Coming from an M car already, you might opt for the X6M.
X6 by itself is just different from most other cars out there. You either like it or you dont from what I have discerned from others.

I went from an E93 M3 to an X6 40d and have no regrets.
The 40d is torquey as hell!!
Sure the M3 was awesome for power and acceleration.
My X6 40d is not lacking in power/ performance either.
IMO the X6 is a great allrounder and has a completely different feel to the M3.
I have never driven the 50i or the X6M but I bet they are both fantastic.
With UK fuel prices now over £1.30 per litre, I have no regrets.

I have a 2009 X6 50. It is amazing. I look for any excuse to drive it.

Everybody stares, people come up to you and compliment you (get it in Vermillion, so it gets noticed). And if that ain't enough, you can get the Dinan Stage 1 upgrade for more HP and torque.

Only downsides for me: turbo lag (sport tranny mode and Dinan helps), 2 seats in back (3 seat option coming). And fuel consumption ain't great.

I have had to service it for little things, but it is a rockstar car. Hot!!
