Hello guys,
Check this website, they offer great solutions for BMW cars (and others) that did not came with rear view camera, navigation system, TV, or DVD, they even made a touch-screen NAV System ( they have video to watch)
The most interesting issue is their interface is totally independent from the factory one, but it uses the CID ( Central information Display screen ) so the final result is totally factory, and the best thing is that there is no need for reprograming the main software of the car.
Im planning to buy the rear view system tomorrow for my X6, also you can choose the quality of the rear view camera, so the problems of the low resolution factory camera will be history here.

The CID is the iDrive center screen in your dashboard, it is the same screen for the NAV system, the only difference is that the NAV screen is 7.3" wide, the non NAV screen is 6.5" wide, both screens work with the rearview camera.

Regarding installation, I talked to this guys and it seems pretty easy, any person who knows how to install a radio or alarm will do it easily.

I hope I will get mine installed in a couple of weeks and will post pictures

If someone does their own install I would be curious where in the car the camera plugs into and what kind of connector.

They told me that all plugs are identical to the OEM's, I will post pictures once I have the product with me.
Regarding the camera suplied:
1/4" CCD color image
Minimum ilumination: 0.2 lux (that means the camera will perform great on darkness)
Resolution: 480 TV line
Frame rate: 30 Frames per second at 27Mhz (NTSC)
Image reverse: left right mirror
Optical angle: 170° degrees (great)
Dimensions: 36mm x 36mm x 36mm
Pictures;

Hi Deda,
Haven't close my deal yet, but depending on the quality your choose for the camera type you want to install.
Price for the interface is around 300 Euro, and camera starts at 100 Euro, so lets say starting at 400 Euro plus shipping (my local dealer is charging me around $2000 for the OEM retrofit plus installation....
