Spare wheel carrier

Hi all,

has anybody got any bright ideas on a suitable setup to carry a full-sized spare wheel on an f31?

I don't have any space under the floor in the boot.
The boot will be full with bags etc.
Don't have a roof box but don't really want one either.

Short of strapping the wheel to the roof or bonnet I cannot think of any other options!

FWIW my pal has a spare 18" 400M in his F31 at all times with the mileage he does between Lancashire & Germany

He stores it, packed with as much as he can get in the barrel and then it's one of the last things to be packed 'just in case he needs it)

Generally he's on his own; but he doesn't like having the seats folded flat and exposing all his wares in the car to any one looking etc

Like you he's nowhere else to put it; but he makes it work

Unless you want the cost and hassle of a towbsr and a custom-fabricated post/carrier, it’s a case of roof rack or the boot.

Can you remove rear seats to get some extra space?

Can't remove anything, as much as they are a pain at times, I do love my children... The wife sits in the front ...

Got you. How big are the wheels? Thinking of front leg room area.

it's an 18inch full sized. I have managed to stuff it in the boot and fill the middle with a soft bag when driving to the Alps this year, but I had to leave the parcel shelf at home and the boot was visible (although windows are heavily tinted).

I suspect it's either roof or boot! Perhaps I should spend my efforts of better packing and taking less cr&p on holiday - but we are pretty frugal in this respect already!

A black sheet draped over the contents of the boot will help loads if you don't have enough room to keep the parcel shelf in place.
