Love the x5m... the only thing i wished the stock wheels were better... they look like they belong on the x3... jmo, but at least that is an easy fix

Haha...+2. I wish I could get some of that "Oil money" you guys keep mentioning about arabs.
I did aswell. I know for a fact that both BMW and Range Rover get their transmissions from ZF . It could be the beefier version named 6hp34. Not sure though.

although i agree with you as far as luxury and what not, i feel like thats an unfair statement to make performance wise. if i remember correctly, when the SRT8 first came out in 05, it was the fastest SUV and stayed that way for sometime, plus it was a little more than half the price of its competitors... but that was 5 years ago, so of course technology from today will be better than technology from the past.
