you shouldn't be "shrinking, losing, consumption, that much oil that quickly. 3 quarts across 2k miles is a lot.
Two things come to mind. might be one, or both, or neither: -your oil control rings on your piston are not doing their jobs, try running a cleaner in your oil...maybe it'll work? -your oil is shearing much too quickly and you should use a higher quality oil. Try Rotella T6 for 1 oil change and see how much oil you use. |

Sorry for lack and miss information i give before
Oil shrinking is half from dip stick(from idrive hesdunit) not 3quarts, shrinking 500ml(half squart oil) every 3100km most stuck i loss 1 quart reach when reach 5800km(average data) I very rarely drive aggersive,i drive aggresive after oli change + tune up for test performance Oli i use Castrol Edge fully synthetic 5w-30 been travel 2000km with castrol and shrinking a little ,soon i will update for accurate data with castrol edge😬 My local shop sell best syncthetic oli like Castrol edge, Helix Ultra, motul(i haven't test Motul) witch one is better? I seek liqui moly, 77, and Mobil1 but stock is limited more expensive price and need ordered 7 days before cause is import from outside country and oli not produced on local Seek Amsoil hard to found at local shop but i still try it My local and online shop not sell shell RottelaT6 there's another option? -Answer another qestion I not use 0w-30 is to runny and more fast shrinking than 5w-30 my X3 is been travaled 112.880km i prefer use 5w-30 for now Last edited by Vortifex; 02-21-2024 at 10:15 AM.. |

OK, that helps. Try a 5w-40 or a 0w-40 oil and see if your consumption decreases. Mobil 1 or Castrol are good. It sounds like the oil is breaking down and thinning out after some miles. An oil with better shear and heat protection may solve your problem. Your other option is to run a diesel oil like Rotella T6, since Rotella isn't available for you, something similar from Valvoline or Mobil would work. It says diesel oil but ignore that. Diesel oils are formulated differently but are generally better against heat and shear. https://shop.valvolineglobal.com/pro...-oil-sae-5w-40 https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/...mobil-delvac-1 https://www.shell.com/motorist/oils-...sel-5w-40.html |
