How to change the Trans. fluid on X5 M e70
Was wondering if that's easy to do or possible with the X5M, or is it a dealer or shop only job? Couldn't see any trans. oil dipstick either. So, even if I could find the trans. fluid drain plug, you couldn't easily fill it up from the engine bay? It's got 89,000 km (55K miles) on it.
Thanks! |

The X5M has a different cover and separate filter but should be the same process |

Cool. Thanks! Was hoping it would be easier. I don't have a lift and a transmission jack, LOL! Kind of difficult without the lift, at the very least. I guess it's about time to change it though? Close to 60K miles. Out of warranty.

Depends on if you are going to change the filter. X5 35d has a support that blocks access to two of the bolts. Either need to fab a short torx or remove the support.
1. Drain fluid 2. Remove filter 3. Clean up mess 4. Replace filter 5. Torque bolts properly 6. Follow fluid refill procedure (temp monitoring via obd) |

I found this while looking around...this guy covers everything and does some extra stuff too...I've got my cart loaded up and considering the purchase...need to swap fluids soon.
