Of course they will actually come out of South Carolina, maybe the folks that just happen to stop at the same coffee shop as the engineers can get us some info....

shenard,
After hearing the rumors I beginning to think that a Dinan tune maybe a better deal then what BMW will have to charge for these to differentiate them from the 50i.

You should keep in mind the warranty issue... With an M version, you get full factory warranty on EVERYTHING. With a Dinan tune, if something goes wrong, have fun working that out

Anyone else think the wheels on the test mules look dinky?
You don't know what you are talking about. Go drive the X6 50i and then come back and tell me that another 150hp is not enough. It will smoke the Cayenne Turbo since the X6 50i with 400hp almost keeps up with it now

Keep in mind the Dinan tune will only get you the HP and torque increase whereas I am sure the M version from BMW will be alot more such as suspension better seats and other various mods which is why price will be quite a bit more too!

Considering my dealer is the highest volume Dinan parts distributor and installer I am not as worried and I met Steve Dinan at my dealer a few weeks ago and spoke to him about the warranty issues which have not been an issue at my dealer and they have several hundred Dinan customers there.

That's good for you, but what about people in other places that don't have dealers that have that kind of access to or backing by Dinan?

Let's use a true measuring stick

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

550 hp @ 6,000 rpm0-60 mph: 4.7 sTop Track Speed: 174 mph MSRP $ 124,800.00

Porsche Cayenne Turbo

500 hp @ 6,000 rpm0-60 mph: 4.9 sTop Track Speed: 171 mph MSRP $ 98,700.00

So I thinking 10 percent less of the base (non S) for BMW ///M X
I can't wait!

Now you are talking. Add an M DCT 7 that can handle the torque and I will buy one!

Sadly, I think they are using a standard issue ZF longitudinal 6 speed slushbox though.

Technically every dealer is supposed to work with Dinan but the problem is that many dealers do not work with them as much and this could be a concern or potential risk for many because in that case you would have to find an authorized Dinan dealer if something goes wrong and go through them which could be a pain in ass and delay the process. Your concern is a valid one. For me, I would be okay with taking the plunge because they have authorized BMW dealers in Houston, Dallas, and Austin and I usually don't travel outside those areas.

The X6 50i is 400hp and already 0-60 mph in 4.8-5.2 (depending on magazine) so imagine what it will be with another 150+hp and 100+lb/torque!

I just got back from picking my car up from BMW service. I talked to salesman about X6M. He told me not much info yet, but Z4 (normally built in U.S.) is being offered for Euro delivery in May. He was suggesting possibly X5M And X6M to be built in Germany and offered for Euro Delivery??? Sign me up!

the new Z4's manufacturing was moved to Germany, presumably to make space for the next-gen X3, which is slated to be moved from Magna (Austria) to the U.S. facility. i doubt the X5M or X6M will be built in Germany, considering the U.S. plant is already tooled up to manufacture the vehicle X5 and X6, it wouldn't make much sense to ship a partially completed vehicle to Germany, only to have it shipped back, and have to pay the exhorbitant taxes on importing a vehicle into the U.S., along with the shipping costs.

That's what i was thinking. Is the factory set up for X5/X6 build? He told me the Euro delivery with Euro discount on M cars is doing well. Maybe a sign of the times. We are talking about a $100k vehicle in a down economy. Euro delivery is a great marketing tool.

But come on most folks just want the horsepower/torque. Ya you can increase the handling a little but not a lot these are 5200lb cars and there is only so far you can push that much weight. I would not try to chase a sports car around twisties but would want to "smoke the tires" so to speak on a straight road. I'm still waiting to see what they charge, after all most folks aren't going to spend the "big" bucks to get seats and suspension but will pay for performance with a capital P.

I am pretty sure that the M versions of X6 and X5 will be assembled in Spartanburg, SC. I am pretty sure that the M coupe of the Z was assembled in Spartanburg.

hey i want better handling than my current SUV, it kinda sucks lol.

im really curious about the prices as well. considering that the base price of the X5 3.0i is about 47k and for the X5 4.8 its about 56k, im guessing the X5 M could be around 75-85k base price.

well im hoping for that at least lol.

if the M5 goes for $85k, there's no way the X5M, with a more powerful engine, will go for anything less than $85k. i'm expecting $100k for the X5, $105k+ for the X6.
