Transfer case actuator motor shortage?!

Hi guys,

can a defective ATC700 actuator motor burn the TCU?

Just bought an E70 with nonworking xdrive.
Couldnt access the xdrive TCU, it was non responsive.
So I swapped the TCU from my other E70.
4x4 was still not working, but ABS, EBD etc. started operate normally.
After a day of driving... the 4x4 error disappeared!
The next time I started the car... TCU completely dead...

It seems to me, that the actuator might have burned the TCU?
As even the borrow TCU shows errors now in the donor
What do you guys think?

Just get a new actuator motor and be done with it?

Thanks
Rod
