Gloss Black 333 M-Sport Wheels

So I started getting the MOD-ITCH lately since its been about a year since I've done anything to our E70 X5. I've been pre-occupied on the Audizine Forum focusing on our Audi Q5

Anyway, long story short is that I've been debating wether or not to powder coat my OEM 333M's for a while now, so I finally pulled the trigger. I went with gloss black and it turned out EXCELLENT

It really re-freshed the look for me, and scratched that ITCH!

This is exactly what I've been searching for, my 333's are in bad shape(oxidizing) by the center roundel...i can't decide if i should have them re-done back to OE or have them powder coated gloss black. Gloss black looks great on BS

Was thinking the same thing. What color is exterior? I have Carbon Black and don't know whether gloss or matte.

Thanks Cattivo! You helped me make my decision on what size (mm) spacers to go with last year so I'm glad I can return the favor

I had the same issue btw with the clear coat not holding up over time and some slight curb rash from the wife so I thought this would be the best time to get them re-finished completely!

My X5 is Black Sapphire Metallic. To be very specific, I went with an 80% gloss black. I was advised that 100% gloss would be difficult to keep clean as it shows imperfections, dirt, scuffs, hairline scratches, etc. very easily unless you have a very specific clear coat over it. To my understanding, the bottom line is that the less gloss you go with the more forgiving the black is in regards to keeping clean. I guess it all comes down to a matter of personal preference!

How much curb rash did you have? I have a wheel or two with slight curb rash and I was under the impression that when they "fix" the curb rash with whatever those guys use the powder coat cannot stick to it. Did they just grind down the curb rash as best as possible?

It wasn't anything super deep, it was more like surface rash around the edges. Im not sure exactly how they fixed it but im assuming it only required some sanding/smoothing out. After the powdercoat the wheels look perfectly smooth as if they came black from the factory.

We're all here to help each other out brother

Thanks to you I finally got off my ass and stop procrastinating about fixing the 333's...I dropped the wheels off to get re-finished as well. I decided to go gloss black on the part of the wheel that has the grey finish and OE on the chrome

Here is a pic of the typical damage most of us are getting by the center cap on the 333's

Sounds awesome! Cant wait to see what they turn out like.

Reminds me of the finish I had on the wheels of my 750Li.
