LED lights
So I brought my car (2011 X5 50i) into my dealer because after I put my LED interior kit in my car the SOS malfunction message came on. Along with that the tailgate lights went out. Also glove box wouldn't open. And lastly the radio wouldn't work. The dealership called me and they said it was the LED lights that caused everything to happen and said for me to switch back to stock bulbs. Could that be? The service rep said he warrantied 2,000 dollars in repairs and only charging me $300 for all the repair work so it doesn't raise a red flag to BMW corporate. Tomorrow I will go and pick up my car and test everything. Has anyone else experienced any similar problems? Just doesn't make sense to me why that caused those problems.
Thanks in advance, John |

No problems here. As for the Glove box not opening you blew a fuse. The fuse box is located under the dash on the passenger side front seat. You can do a search and find how to replace the 10 amp fuse. Did you use Canbus bulbs?

Are these LED lights you installed from that group buy going on in the for sale sub-forum?

It's possible to blow a fuse when installing the glove box light (I did this myself...twice) which will prevent the glove box from opening. I suppose something similar could happen with the tailgate lights as well.
The SOS warning seems like a totally separate system though, and I imagine fused separately from any lights, whether they be interior or exterior. However, their estimate of $2k might just be due to the fact the rear dome lights are such a PITA to swap out.
