2006 or 2007 X5

My mother is considering the X5 now... before she wanted the XC90. But said it drove like shit..
Anyways

today she test drove the X5....and she liked it a lot more then the XC90.

So should I tell her to wait for the 07? or just get the 2006.

The dealer has a nicely eqiupped 4.4 on the lot. everything except for Navi and privacy glass. for $76000 approx. Canadian

Any thoughts or ideas on how to get the best deal on the 4.4

Personally, I'd wait for the '07 if time and budget allow. It is so close now to market.

the new one is going to be here very shortly

unless there's some extremely urgent need for a new car now I'd wait a month or two for the new one

BMW rarely significantly discounts ANYTHING! I wouldn't expect a big drop on the E53s. THe E70 is a very different SAV, but don't forget....it will have RUNFLAT tires!!!

Does your Mom really want to spend 76k? Or even with a "big" discount she'll pay 74k!! Why not get a CPO loaded for 50K? The warranty goes forever, and the '04s are starting to come off lease now.

be in style and wait for the 07's. you're gonna regret buying it now and seeing the new ones out within a couple of months.

I was offered a whopping 6% off MSRP to take a 2005 3-series when I was shopping for my car.

IMO the worst thing you can do from a depreciation standpoint is buy the last year of a model that's about to be updated. If she waits a few months for the 2K7, 5 years from now she'll still be driving the current model. Whereas the 2K6 will be already dated in just a few months.

BTW... also considering that with new model updates from BMW you're generally getting more car for the same money (i.e. power, tech, etc...) even if they are cutting the price on the outgoing model it's still not worth it.

yeah i agree with the whole buying new outdated car. thats what i keep telling my mom not to do it...

but shes wants a car now, although shes doesn't need it right away.
She currently drives a 02 Montana van....that will be eventually used for our family business...expanding need more vans ...but in the meantime its still our family car.

Only problem is, pricing for the 07 X5 isnt out yet and she won't be able to test drive it for another couple months.

Anyone see or hear about pricing and first shipments??

I think deliveries will start in the US in November, so we can't be far behind.

I can't remember if your Windsor dealer is any good....are they? I would ask if you can order one now and then wait. My guess is that you CAN order one now, but you'll only see it for Christmas. And forget about a test drive. Just drive the 06 and think "wow, this is great, and the new one will be even better!"

Don't forget also that the E90s were a new model last May 2005 and it was kind of a Beta version...why expect anything different for the E70? Why not take over a lease for 8 months or something, maybe there is something at leasebusters.com?

Did you check over at x5world.com? There is an E70 sub-forum. Pics, press release, delivery dates, it's all there.

Unless shes likes the current 4.8is, I'd tell ehr to wait another 2 months max. The 3.0 and 4.4 are being replaced by the 3.0si and 4.8 but theres still no replacement for the 4.8is.

I'm biased of course.
