1. Engage “M Power” Mode on Steering wheel.
2. Move shifter to Sport then put it in the 1st (manual shift mode)
3. left foot on the brake, Floor Accelerator with right foot till checkered Flag appears in the Instrument Panel.
4. Release brake and hold on.

True.
Either DSC off or M dynamic mode.
I setup my M button with M Dynamic mode on so I forgot to mention.

I activated LC once by accident.
I'm scared to use it because the first couple of years of the GTR, Nissan strongly cautioned the use against it. Is there a bad side of using the LC? Does it wear out the transmission (or turbo, etc) just like the older GTRs?

These cars aren't made to be babied. You can use the LC and not worry about it; if you're doing LC from every red light, then you may want to increase your service intervals, as that will obviously increase wear and tear. This is assuming stock. If you have a tune then the extra power increases load on all components and can lead to issues. I do it once in a while for fun, or when I have someone new in the car

Here you go:
Quote:
To activate Launch Control,
the driver stops the vehicle,
moves the gear selector into the M/S position and
activates the Sports Power mode, as well as the M Dynamic mode, or respectively, the DSC-Off mode.
Then, with the transmission in stage M1, the driver presses down the brake pedal and moves the accelerator to at least 60% throttle, setting Launch Control to standby. Standby status is confirmed by “starter’s flag” symbol in the instrument cluster. As soon as the driver releases the brake pedal, the vehicle will accelerate with full power in “genuine racing style.” In the process, the M Sports Automatic transmission automatically upshifts at the ideal points, with the fastest possible shifts and optimum wheelspin control. The driver may terminate the Launch Control process at any time by reducing the throttle position.
My procedure:
1. Stop the car
2. move shifter to M/S
3. press M button
4. Hit paddle shifter so it goes to manual (M1)
5. Press gas while holding brakes
6. once flag is shown - let go the brake while flooring gas

Hello AndreyATC,

You can hold the throttle to the floor from the beginning. The engine will not exceed 3,000 rpm regardless of throttle position. In fact you can change the starting engine speed by 500 rpm via the cruise control. Then when you come off the lightly held breaks (remember the clutch is not really engaged at this point) your already on full throttle.

I'm thinking you should have a 4.5 in there where you hold the selector lever forward and hold it until you see the flag.

FWIW.

Regards,

Yes.

When you start LC you are in manual mode. It will auto shift the gears as long as you hold down the throttle. As soon as you release the throttle, the auto shifting stops and you remain in manual mode in whatever gear you went up to during the LC run.

So if you release the gas too early, the run will be short.

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong.

The last three BMWs I had were at least 4 - 6 mph FAST. So he was most likely doing an honest 188 - 190.

Top speed is 190 mph (factory) "IF" you have the Competition Package. If you do not have the CP then top speed is 155mph.

What competition package? When did X6M have competition package? I would have ordered it if I knew about it!

LOL
To be clear. The car I was referring to is a 2014 M5 with the competition package. Top speed on a '14 M5 with the competition package IS 190, after the 1,200 mile service. Sorry for the confusion, my fault.

I do find that as a general rule most '14 M5 owners (with the comp. package) are surprised to find that the top speed is bumped to 190 mph.

The top speed "bump" is put in place when the 1,200 mile oil change is reset. "If" you have the CP then at the 1,200 mile service you now have a 190 mph M series.

You can read here and also watch the video I posted. If your still in denial then read to the end of this article. LOL back at you.

I have no idea if the competition package is available on an '14 X6M. Even if it is there is no way in hell I'd want to be 190mph in any X model!

I take delivery of an '14 X5 i50 for my Wife in two weeks or so (it's on the boat now).

I didn't watch the video at first when I posted last time. Now I realize it's an M5 video. Yeah, it's common knowledge M5 and M6 got Competition Package for 2014. Glad to know it removes the top speed governor.

X6M (this being the X6/X6M forum) doesn't have this in the US, and never has. It is also governed at 155mph (167mph indicated on speedometer, roughly 8% optimistic). There are various tunes which remove (or loosen a bit) the top speed limiter for our X ///M series cars.

There is/was apparently an "M Driver's Package" that increased X6M limited top speed to 171mph (275km/h) but I don't believe this was ever available in the US. Again, if it was, my car would have it.

The Dinan tune moves the top speed limiter for X6M from 155mph to 167.7mph. Based on the roughly 7.8% optimism, the speedo would show roughly 180.68mph to the driver. Dinan states on their website as follows: this description of their tune that

Therefore it seems that if someone was driving an X6M and it shows 190mph on the speedo, the car is actually doing about 175mph in real speed. That would not be unreasonable for this car, but probably the fastest that you'd want to be going.

To do REAL 190mph, the speedo would need to show 204.70 mph, which is a stretch for this car (read - not going to happen, at least not for long before something bad happens)! This assumes stock speedo, stock tire sizes, etc.

My stock 2013 X6M is 2mph higher on the speedo with less than 6,000 miles on the tires. As they wear the difference will be greater, I'm sure.

What do you mean 2mph higher?

Mine is also stock and has been consistent regarding real vs. actual speed. Closing on 14,000 miles and just had first service completed.
