I got you, but trust me many of the cars at the dealership (including bmw dealership) were sold at auctions including CPO, I searched for about 50 X5's on yahoo/cars.com/ autotrader and about 40 cars were sold at the auction. I am going with the same meticulous attitude like u and if it's not clean then I'm not even bidding. I will post pictures of 2011 X5 with 65,000 miles my cousin bought for $25,000 later, is as clean as they come. |

There are quite a few clean 2011 X5s for sale currently for around the $25K mark, as there are plenty of dealership who are happy just making $1K off a car and moving on to the next one. If you want *an* X5, you can buy from the auction. If you're picky and you want a *specific* X5, then it's better to browse online and be willing to travel (or wait) until you find the perfect one. To each their own, right? |

I have purchased cars from auctions before and I have had good luck. I have a friend who had been in the wholesale business for 20+ years and he has a ton of dealers who call him to have him find cars which a potential client is looking for. If you go to your dealer in search of say.... 2011 BMW 550 w/ X packages and color there is a good chance that the dealer may not have it. He will call my friend, and put a feeler out to see if he can get it. I attends auctions on a weekly basis so he can usually give the dealer an answer in a week or two.

To each it's own u right. Mind you I am not looking for *an* X5, I am *specific* X5. Convenience pack/ cold weather/ premium sound is a must, secondary options are 3 row and black on black. |

Those are all pretty common, minus the third row. Let us know what you find mate. Best of luck!

Thanks mate. I am also keeping my eye at other deals at the dealership as a fall back plan, my current 2006 325 was CPO and it served me well. Will definitely keep this thread posted.

Not only that, it's a 2011 35i, meaning you drop down to the base audio system (BMW US Radio - option code S645A). If it was a 2012 35i, or a 2011 50i, it would at least have the Hi-Fi Audio System (option code - S676A). That base audio system is well documented on this forum. Just throwing that out there. |

The 2012 is my first option but the third row and screens (two young kids) caught my eye. They coating under $29,000. |

3rd row is somewhat rare (not as rare as other options). Sun shades are part of the Convenience Package on the 35i, a pretty common package. I spent many months searching…I say don't settle until you find exactly what you want! |

Great question. I can't answer with specifics (wattage, # of speakers, etc.) - there was a thread on this over on Xoutpost but even then nobody was totally clear.
I will say I've heard all 3 and the base system (S645A) is not something I would be happy with. I have S676A and I'm happy with it. I did test drives on vehicles with S677A and I couldn't tell much of a difference between that and S676A. Though maybe if I parked two X5's side by side and did a compare, perhaps I would |

almost all used car dealers are providing 'take you to Manheim dealer only auction' to used car shoppers , and the auctions are live online too, competition is high, you will not get good price on cars with good condition and desirable options. Manheim auction is only good for buying high volume cars such as Camry or retired fleets, and cars with poor conditions.
I posted my experience at bimmerfest site last year, wasn't good |

I believe that the difference is in the two extra speakers in the rear for 3rd row seating ...

With auction you get less time with the car before you bid unlike the dealership, does all the bmw's with ridges on the door handle have comfort access? that would be an easy way to spot it with one look (like sports package is easy to see with seats/ cold weather with headlight cleaner and heated steering) if I don't have the vin to run it. |
