Audi A3 Pics

I got to sit in it and i must say interior is boring, and back seat is tighter than e90.

Well you have to compare the interior to a E82 or F20.

Also the B8 A4 compares to the E90...lol.

I understand that it is not in the same class as the 3-series, however I'm just shocked at how you are supposed to seat 4 adults.

My feelings are that they should have made it a coupe. 4 doors and tiny back seats just don't make any sense.

Other than that, I generally like it. Haven't driven one yet though so cant comment on any of that.

Different cars, different chassis.

Jetta is built on the old PQ35 chassis.

A3 is built on the new MQB chassis.

S3/RS3 will be pocket rockets. It is definitely smaller than the E90. It seems to be sized comparably to the B5/B6 A4.

My girlfriend just picked up a new A3. Personally, I think this car is fanastic so far. I drive an e90 and no the A3 isnt as big, but its perfect size for getting around and throwing around a few corners when needed. I wouldnt look at the A3 as a family(with kids) car nor is an e90 for that matter. The 2.0l turbo combined with the dual clutch, makes this car a rocket, it makes my 335 feel slow to be honest. Yes, the interior isnt as nice as the more expensive Audi's and BMW's, but you can still get the latest tech that Audi offers in a 30k car. We cross shopped the f30 328xi and for almost 10k more for the same options, I couldnt see paying up. Cant wait to see the S3.....

You're right, it's is more of an insanely expensive Skoda Fabia with fancy interior plastics.

Skoda Otavia. As well as Seat Leon, Golf MK7, next gen TT and Passat. But not the Jetta, that will remain on the old PQ35 chassis.

German companies are now doing what GM and Toyota have done for years. Share a common platform across the board. BMW will have one shared platform for the 3-series and up (35up platform). And a FWD UKL platform that will serve as a chassis for next gen Mini's, X1, 1-series, and more.

The future of the mass produced auto industry is cost savings.

I've got an Audi A1 Sportsback, it easily fits 4 Norwegian sized adults, it probably wouldn't fit 4 normal sized Americans, but I bet if you sent them to fat camp for 6 months it would.

You just reminded me of this clip I watched the other day about what Finnish schoolchildren are taught about Americans. I know you're in Norway but I thought it was funny...

Went and sat in one at lunch today. We had two B5 A4's and this feels nearly identical. Whether Audi building a new car that feels like an 18 year old car is a good thing is questionable though. Of course I'd buy a modern E36 sedan in a second, crappy interior and all.

I'm 6'2" and fit comfortably behind myself, aside from the low rear head room and large front seats, I'd say there's more rear leg room than the E90's I've been in and more than our X1 too. It's not a boat like the F30, but that's not a bad thing.

Pity about the lack of pedals, otherwise I'd consider an S3.
