///M or nothing ...since you asked for gas consumption go for the diesel..it will keep you driving for a week, my x5m only last 2-3 days till I fill up its tank.

Thats all personal preference my friend
I think the X6 looks like a shark and the X5 looks like a tank
idk
I am abstract lol

In all seriousness it really comes down to preference, I have never heard anyone call the X5 hideous, the X6 is a different story lol

My 35i - 19mpg mixed, mostly city. Haven't done straight highway yet. With this global warming going on the temps have been 0- 15degrees F. So Iam happy with those numbers being this cold. Back in September was getting 21-22 mpg city. My old Honda Ridgeline had 50 less horsepower and I would get 15-16mpg when it was this cold.

Yeah, the X5M is probably the most practical, but for looks it doesn't even have fog lights (weight savings for more efficiency)...so I'd probably go with the 35d if that's a concern for you.

No 30d in the US.

USA has just one Diesel model, the 35d.

My 35d averages 23mpg with mostly city. My wife test drove the 35i the same day we bought the 35d and she said the car wouldn't move at all.

The diesel "feels" more powerful because of the torque.

If you don't mind the money, M is the way to go without any question.

Different level of tune. There is also a 50d which is basically the same 3.0.

Doubt it is for weight saving. Most likely just to differentiate it from the regular model - also the radiators for the intercoolers are on the other side of those vents.

I was deciding between a X5D and X5M. I found a X5D loaded with pretty much all the options and couldn't resist. The torque is amazing and the fuel economy is not bad either. My wife drives the X5D and she fills up roughly once every weekend and does close to 40 miles a day commuting to work. I would say go with a X5D and make sure you get the 3rd row option, Sports activity package and Adaptive Drive.

I have an X5d and an X5M....if you can afford the M it's the way to go. The 3rd row in the diesel is nice to have occasionally, the fuel mileage is great but the M is so much better in every way. Our diesel also has a tune that bumps it up over 100ftlbs 60hp. It still feels like a dog when comparing to the M, the diesel is great but not when comparing to the m.

+1 x5d is great and my wife loves it's but can't be compared to a M. That's why I have a x6M also.

What do you prefer between the X5 and X6 body? Do you see the difference? What do you think about the rear visibility of the X6..?

X5 and x6 are different animals. I prefer the x5 when you are out with family on a long trip or going to the beach. X6m is a sporty crossover that is fun to drive. The visibility is really not great on the x6. It doesn't even have a wiper so when it rains, the visibility is even less.

I leased the x6 to coz I liked the way it looked. I don't think I will get another one.

If I were you and didn't care about MPG, I would get the v8 X5. If you need a fun weekend car, get a M4 or a M235i.
