Jb4 for xdrive50i, who's done it?

Searched all the forums and can't find much info on this. Wife wants louder exhaust and more power from the 4.4 turbo (can't say no to that). Coming from the cayenne turbo, I agree though this truck is nearly as fast. Who's got the jb4 and...is it worth it? I'm thinking dp's also but the jb is first on the list. 40whp seems like a low gain for a v8tt..but, it is almost 10%. Thanks guys

I don't think BMS makes a JB4 for the N63/S63. I have the Stage 1 on mine and I think that's as far as it goes.

They do make JB4 for the N63. It is a popular tuning solution on the F10 5 series. I know someone who has it on his 50i and is pretty happy with it but I don't have any first hand experience.

OP- if you are eventually going catless why don't you look at doing a flash tune through Velos or AA? Omar at Velos provided me with a tune when I went catless and I am very happy with it. Just a suggestion.

Hmm, I guess so. I went by the info on their official website and it doesn't show JB4 for N63...maybe I looked in the wrong place...who knows...

Might not work on the E70. Just like how the N55 is very popular with the 1 and 3 series folks, they have JB4, but JB4 won't work with the E70 N55.

It does work - I know someone running stage 2. Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits available for E70 with N63

That's Stage 1, that's what I said. That's not JB4.

Maybe I'm naive, but isn't jb4 the piggy back tune made by burger? The link itself says JB4 in it. (Second link) What am I missing here? He offers stage 2. What are you trying to argue?

That is correct. Burger makes the JB4 piggy back tune BUT, not every piggy back tune offered by Burger is a JB4. Some are Stage 1/2 as you said yourself above. There is a difference, what the difference is, I'm not sure. I just know that JB4 is not compatible with the N63/S63 power plant.

The link does have JB4 in it, but that means nothing. I used the JB4 interface to configure my Stage 1 tune, but that doesn't make it a JB4.

Just wanted to make sure that the OP understands this before he wastes money or does something far worse with an incompatible tune...

LOL - I believe you are correct stage 1 is NOT a jb4. More of a jb+ , simple boost controller. The stage 2 upgrade is the jb4 or maybe the simpler jb3 in jb4 housing. It's pretty rough to install because it's not plug n play. Comes as a pin out installation, so not to many people are gonna be willing to do that. That stage 2 forum has most of that info, and most of the guys are running stg 2 on 550s.

+1 for stage 1 not being the same as JB4. JB4 has the ability to log and change settings via the steering wheel buttons.

Garage List
Does the Stage 2 work yet on the X5 50i? It's listed on their compatibility page. Though, for whatever reason they are missing the year 2013.

I know this is a JB4 thread, but doesn't ESS offer a straight up tune (no other parts required) for the N63/50i? I put one on my 2012 50i and dropped 1+ sec off my 0-60 times. Price was ~$1k at the time a couple years ago.

Thought that would scratch my X5M itch. It did for a while at least. haha
