Big Brake Upgrade e70 X5 35d

I own a 2012 X5 35d. Last year I upgraded the wheels to offset 20". I need new front brakes and would like to upgrade. Looking for advice on whether the following setup will work:

f85 Rotors 34112284901 & 34112284902
f15 M sport brake calipers 34117847241 & 34117847242
M8 x 12mm Hex Head bolt x2 34111123072
SS Brake kit ECS 002565ECS01AKT2
Brake wear sensors (Need PN)
Dust shield (Need PN)

Advice on anything else I need would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!

Hi,

A search will provide a number of threads with various options...

Here is one option that several of us have done:

Thanks,
John

Thanks John. I have read through that thread and others but I am looking at a slightly different setup. Specifically I'm wondering if the calipers from an F15 X5M will fit on my non-M e70 X5.

This thread:

https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1053648

shows the F15 calipers fit on an e70 X5M, but doesn't mention whether they will fit on a non-M.

Thanks,
Nick

They will fit. You need the X5M carriers (2 x 34217847226 ) for the rear calipers to fit the bigger rotors though

I just went an ordered pn #34112348054
That's the E70 X5M Brakes as retrofit kit
No headaches (just the rear brake wear sensors were like 2 inches short) but could be strecthed

Thanks!!! Just doing the fronts for now. Just to confirm another detail: Will they fit in conjunction with the f85 rotors?

You're welcome. Yes - I run the F85 rotors and F15 F/R calipers on my 35d. You will only be able to use one set screw in the front so order 2 x 34111123072, these dont have a flange like the ones needed for the f15 rotors. Can't use the set screw in the back at all but it will be fine.

Whats an upgrade like this cost for the front? All parts ordered from BMW?

If not going used market it would most likely be a better value to get the F15 M performance brake kit (34112348054) which comes with F & R and all the other things you need like dust shields, expansion springs, pads, rear caliper carriers etc for $2.7K. The front F15 rotors and calipers (without hardware, pads, or dust shields) would be $2.4K alone.

What I did was bought the kit and flipped the rotors so I could offset the cost of some F85 rotors. Ended up spending 3.5k for F & R with F85 rotors, ECS SS brake lines and 2L Castrol SRF.

except for the look at extra weight does this upgrade provide any better brake force?

Night & day difference. It stops extremely fast for a 5400lbs car. Can't tell how much of the improvement came from the brake kit compared to the SS lines since I did them at the same time.
