Upper oil pan gasket

I’ve looked over the instructions on ista to renew both; upper, and lower oil pan gaskets.

The job doesn’t look terrible. But I am worried about tensioning the oil pump chain on reinstall. I don’t want to lose an engine.

Is it possible to replace upper and lower without removing the subframe. And without needing to buy the engine cross brace?

I have two snap on tech angle torque wrenches, a lift and a bunch of tools. All I’m missing is the braces/ trans Jack if needed.

I remember one member installing the revised oil pump, and the engine failed shortly after. I’m trying to avoid this. I could have it done for $2500. Or $3600 at bmw. I know if me screws up. I get a new s63. That would be nice?
