N55 60K Maintenance

I'm coming up against 60K miles on my 35i M-Sport, and wondering what the experts suggest for maintenance for an X5 I want (have) to keep awhile.

I've already done the diff and trans fluids at 50K miles. I was planning on doing the plugs at 60K. I was wondering what else I should be looking at. Cooling system? Coils? The suspension still feels very tight, although I may swap out the tension arm bushings with the X5M versions, as I've gone to non-runflats.

I’m not yet at 60k, but I too did trans, diff and also transfer case fluids. I also did plugs and coolant. Brake fluid gets done every two years.

How is it when doing the plugs towards the rear? I gather it's difficult when watching vids on the 335i n55...

I hesitate to admit, but I brought it into my mechanic to do the last two. I know. Total cop out.

Yep. Only a special mechanic will let you get away with that.

On my 35d 3rd year i did a glowplug replacement, brake fluid, pads and rotors, transfercase and diff fluid. transmission and coolant and another transfercase + diff fluid + all filters has been done at 50k km. should be in tip top condition

I thought it was pretty easy on my N54. I guess I'll find out on the X5 later.

It should be the same as the N54. Just that the 5th and or 6th plug towards the back is harder to reach. I chickened out as well and had an indy do it.

As for the 60k maintenance, I did mine near 50k.
Spark plugs
Walnut blasting
Coolant drain
Power steering fluid drain
Transmission fluid drain and filter
Front and Rear diff fluid drain
Brake fluid change

When the indy checked at the time, they said the suspension was still good. Now at around 62k miles, I'm hearing a lot of clunking and rattles sound when I'm going through potholes.

I did the plugs on my '11 E70 35i. Watched a video on a 3 series first. pretty much the same thing. The last two are a pain to get to but totally do-able. You do have to remove many plastic pieces and the air intake but that's no big deal. ALSO, word to the wise... part 11127584128 is a little bitch and susceptible to breaking. Id get one just in case you break yours while removing the air intake.

I took my time and did an oil change at the same time. Took about 4 hours total. I was going slow and just enjoying the silence in my garage but im very delicate with the plugs and this particular job.

Coming up on 60k myself. I will be doing all of the work myself, so this is good info. Now for the most loaded question of the day... What type (brand) of fluids do you recommend? Is the trans, transfer case, or diffs particular about what you pour in them? Is it worth buying BMW fluids?

Edit: I'm also looking for a spec sheet at this time, but if someone can quickly link one that would would helpful too.

my understanding is buying bmw fluid when things goes wrong, you have someone to blame
