Has anyone actually ordered the 5.0ix exhaust tips for the 3.5ix?

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...32&hg=18&fg=95

The part numbers are

Part 1 : 18 30 2 154 632
Part 2 : 51 12 2 154 633

Part 1 shows no one has ordered it in the US nor Germany...help?

I have not orderet it as I had to say bye bye to my X6, HOWEVER I have seen the upgrade done on 35i and it is almost impossible to say if it exhast tips were changed. As far as I have looked at the tips the only think I have spotted that was different than the originsl tips on 50i was the fact that the upgraded one on 35i were sticking out more out of bumber as on 50i. Maybe it was a mistake when the dealer or whoever was putting them on and maybe it is the way its supposed to by. For me the only tunning to 35i is titsnium grill and 50i exhast tips.

I have changed my X6 35i exhaust to the 50i. I realized the part number is 18302154 631. And they actually cut off and weld them and not using clips to connect. After changing the sound is much better and also looks better. You should try it.

Did you change the rear bumper ?
The 5.0 are rectangular and the 35i are rounded, same as for the bumper housing, or you just placed the rectangular tips into the rounded holes of the 35i ?

Please post pictures asap

The current hole is too small to fit the X50i exhaust tip so they actually cut and enlarge the hole. I will show you the picture.

I didn't think that only changing the exhaust tip will change the sound, does it? How can I get the deep exhaust note of V8? I care more about the sound than the shape of the tip.

How about using the tuning exhausts from 335i like ESS? Would it void the warranty??

Yes, they have to enlarge the existing opening in order to fit the 50i exhaust tip. I like the sound very much. I think worth the money.

Just the question I had!!! changing exhaust on x6 35i

I really wanted an answer for this question! So I guess if you have a lease x6 you could not change the exhaust tips since you have to cut and weld?? That would ruin the warranty right? Can someone email this answer to me henry_50cal@yahoo please put bmw forum reply
Thanks

I realized there is no valve on the 50i exhaust tip. Can I transfer the valve from 35i exhaust tip to the 50i exhaust tip?

Low end power torque loss

I realized that after changing to 50i exhaust tip actually reduce low end torque of the 35i. I also realized that there is a value build onto the 35i exhaust and when they change to 50i exhaust they actually do not have that value. That is why the sound is different but I am disappointed with the low in low end torque. Asked the agent to fix back the valve but they said that it is better for the car and many 335i remove that valve. Is it true? What is the main purpose of that valve beside reducing sound and heat up the engine faster. Does it really help in the low end torque? can someone help me?

On my previous 335i, the valve was there to reduce sound levels at low rpm and throttle. I bypassed mine, and the difference in sound was quite significant. However, it still sounded like a 6 cylinder, and most definitely not a V8. I imagine the X6 is exactly the same, and I noticed a buildup of black exhaust more on one side than the other. I'll probably bypass this (block or crimp the hose) to achieve the same effect. In the 335i world, this mod was commonly known as the "golf-tee" modification because a golf tee would effectively block the line.

As for the effect of this on low-end torque... I'm surprised there is any difference. If scavenging is affected by having both mufflers operate rather than just one, this would only occur at low rpms or throttle positions, and really shouldn't be much of a factor. The valve is designed to enable both mufflers at high flow. I didn't notice any difference at all on my 335i (other than the sound)... has anyone else done this mod on their X6?

I realised there is also a valve on the X6 50i exhaust. I believed this valve is not just to cut off sound. It must have some other purpose.

I went back to them and asked them to reattached the valve but was told not possible. Guess got to stick with it for the time being. Lesson learned here is never change anything that is stock.
