first time slr camera! need help!

im looking to pick up my first slr camera.

i'm looking at the canon rebel xti but i had a few questions

whats the difference between the silver and black body?

should i just buy the body and a separate lens kit (if so which one)

or buy the xti that comes with a lens pack.

and if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know

Didn't know there was a silver body, but I guess they're the same.

Just get the kit with the lens.

I just bought an xti from Ritz camera for $579.00 including the kit lens. This was a Father's Day special so I'm not sure about current price. Camera works great and the kit lens is not bad, although my next purchase will have to be a Sigma 70-300.

If it's your first camera, just get the kit lens and maybe a cheap zoom lens until you get the feel of things and decide if you want to keep up the hobby/part time job/whatever. You don't need good glass to start off with because for the most part it's a waste. Learn to play piano first before you drop the cash for a Bosendorfer.
