Exclamation 2010 BMW X6 vs 2010 Range Rover Sport SC which one to pick ?

Dear beloved bimmers,

I wish you happy holidays and merry christmas, and hope you are enjoying it with your families.

I have been following this forum for quite some time now but since I did not own any of the X's I did not have much to post. I am about to purchase a new car and having tough times deciding between the 2010 BMW X6 5.0 and the new 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. I got a deal from my dealer to pay $1500 over invoice on an X6 that I will custom order and will end up paying $82,282 out of the door. I have a wonderful experience with the BMW's but never had a Range Rover so I am a little scared of this step. Now none of the Land Rover dealers is giving me a good deal on their cars, one of the big pros and cons is that I have a local BMW dealer 10 minuets away from my house but the closest range Rover dealer is 45 minuets away .. Please help me decide which car to pick being familiar with the X6 or if you have any experience with RRS ..

Your opinions are highly appreciated .

PS I was also considering 2009 750 Li but due to weather conditions not going to happen.

Thanks

as a former range rover owner, i can tell you i was plagued with problems. i am currently looking into an X6 to replace my lexus rx400h, and would say to definitely take the X6 over the range rover. also i'd look at a 2010 750Li xdrive (i love mine). the range has a lot of reliability issues, and you do not want to have to drive 45min whenever you have a problem and hope the car will make it there.

Muzzab,
I just finished going through the whole process of evaluating the pros and cons of both exact vehicles you are contemplating. I can tell you after consulting with many car and tuning professionals, I chose the X6 50i over the RRS Supercharged.

I was also able to negotiate a price of 750 over invoice, which included destination charge. Also received 2500.00 holiday cash from BMW. Delivery is in January. I am really happy with my choice. BMW is a Quality built vehicle. The X6 is very rare and extremely unique on the road. It's also a bonus that BMW covers all maintenance for 4 years. Maintenance on RRS will be extremely expensive. Quality and maintenance issues on the RRS turned out to be too much of a major concern. I also feel that the interior in the BMW is more elegant and refined.

Choose the X6. You won't regret it. I labored over this decision everyday for many months. I can't wait to take delivery. Good luck to you. Let us know what you decide.

Jblackbelt,

Thank you for the response my friend, I actually agree with you on the reliability of the RR , I am not a huge fan but there is always something about Range Rovers but I am sure the X6 will win my decision .. I am considering the 750 but after the last storm that hit the Northeast I am really thinking about SUV/SAV because I won't like hurting the 750 since there is no enough ground clearance .

Thanks again buddy

REInvestor,

I highly appreciate the response friend,
Glad you had the same dilemma on which vehicle to choose, your reply helped since you already went through the pros and cons, another thing that is scaring me away from the RR is the horrible resale value, those cars lose value in no time. As I said I am doubting the purchase of the 7 series because of the weather conditions, last friday I got stuck in the I 270 for 3 hours !!!! I think I will go for the X6 , I chose the Black Sapphire and Saddle Brown Leather I will update you guys with the information and post pictures upon arrival of the beast

I wish you all a merry christmas and drive safe please

No problem Muzzab. You're absolutely right about the resale value. BMW is doing a great job controlling inventory of the X6. Once you pull the trigger, you'll be as impatient as I am. I also went with Black Sapphire but I chose the black perforated nevada leather. It just gets too hot and humid in the summer here in the mid atlantic region. Also good to have on a black car. My delivery is next month. I'll post pictures as well. Anyways, good luck to you, and Merry Christmas.

Interesting thread to follow....Living in the Midwest and having to put-up with lot's of cold, snow and ice I can tell you I am LOVING my X6....

Performance in Dry
A BEAST in the winter
Exclusivity
Love the drive height
Not an M3, but good drive experience given its heft
Aesthetics (especially with the summer 20's)

Happy Holidays!

My prior E92 was monoco blue with saddle. Very nice combo. For this one though, I wanted the ventilated seats and so color options were more limited.

I ordered a Space Gray, oyster, sports package, performance upgrade. 20 inch wheels. Keyless entry. Satellite. Running boards. Soft close doors.

Skipped the premium sound as I typically just listen to talk radio.

It is not yet in production. I still am being told that it is delayed due to camera shortages.

I can't wait.

I was initially told about the camera shortage - but then there suddenly was no shortage. That about 3 weeks ago.

oops

Forget RR.
I had chance to drive it during couple of months.
Never, ever thought to buy it.
