E70 4.8 EDC Shock Absorber
Hey Guys, Im looking to replace the shock absorber for my E70 4.8. It has EDC and Self Leveling suspension. I was just wondering, will an EDC shock that is meant for cars without self leveling be installed ? They look exactly the same as the ones installed with self leveling suspension. The price difference are huge.
Any thoughts ? For cars without self leveling https://www.mybimmerparts.com/oem-pa...ut-37126794542 For cars with self leveling https://www.mybimmerparts.com/oem-pa...ut-37126794543 |

The drawings are innacruate, they generic in the links.
No, they are not the same. VDC damper with self leveling is https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ft-37126794543 Non-EDC dampers https://www.pacificmotors.com/auto-p...-bmw-x5-07-13/ They are not at all the same. You'll throw a code if you swap a regular damper in for a VDC (or EDC as some folks call them) However, you can remove all (fronts included) VDC dampers, and code out VDC. To my knowledge there are no aftermarket replacements for the VDC dampers, you have to buy a BMW or OEM damper to maintain the system. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...W-X5_48i&mg=33 |

I would suggest purchasing the correct P/N for your car, or converting to a full passive (non EDC) setup and coding out the EDC function. Swapping to a passive setup will most likely require changing the air springs to coil springs as well. Hope this helps! |
