New X5 Seats Killing My Back

First of all, I love my X5. The thing is, the seats don't like my lower back. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing any troubles in this respect. Thank you for your feedback and insight.

You tried using the lumbar adjustment?

the BMW seats are designed for healthy backs. If you have back problems and slouch, these seats may make things worse.

Thanks. I've tried the lumbar in all sorts of settings and my lower back is in good shape. Also, I've had several 5 series and 3 series BMW's and have been very pleased with the seating in all of these.

Sorry man, I found out the exact same thing. Purchased a 2009 X5 4.8 with sport seats and after a week, hurt my back so brought car back in and dealer undid deal and we ordered a new one with comfort seats. problem solved! funny thing is, i fit great in the 3 series and 1 series sport seat, but not the x5 sport seats

Thanks very much for the information. I didn't know that there was a "comfort" seat available. I've got about 5k miles on mine now, but I'm going to see what he'll do. It's really terrible. I just got a 3 series a few days ago and it's really great on the back. Same as my 5 series was.

Sorry to hear that. I have a bad back with 2 prior surgery's but I have had no problem at all with my 2007 X5. I do use the lumbar support and have done up to 11 hours in one day with no issues. In fact I find it the most comfortable vehicle I have had. 3-4 hours in my M3 and I am squirming! Hope you figure something out.

Comfort Seats

I ordered my '08 X5 with the comfort seats...worth every dime. I drove a demo X5 with the sport seats which wasn't bad. But I'm glad I waited for the comfort seats.

You were smart. I went through a tremendous amount of pain for about 5 months. I saw my chiropractor several times, a physical therapist, massage therapist and finally traded my X5 for my wife's 330i. Miraculously, my back started getting better, and now, after about 4 weeks, I'm at about 95%. The bad news is, my wife's back is now bothering her and she is really unhappy with me for "making" her drive it instead of her 330i.

X5 Mike...

Maybe has something to do w/ a tight suspension and run flats??? I'm coming from an '08 Range Rover and am still getting use to the rougher ride of my new X5... I also have the comfort seats, but sometimes my back still gets stressed. Mrchntmarine

It's possible, but what I get is a very painful deep ache that won't go away until I'm out of the vehicle for several weeks. I'm doing much better now, having gotten into an M3 for a daily driver.
