Good deal, should I?

I've been searching, looking around (not in a rush) to add another bmw to the family, preferably an X5. I want an 2012 or greater and Carmax had one listed as X5 M sport but after looking at pictures it was actually an X5 M, and priced along with other X5's. 46K and has 42K miles. Loaded with all packages, apps, heads up display etc. so what now, do i take advantage of the mistake in appraisal?

I am hoping i get some advice...i am not familiar at all with M engines, any issues at these miles and year? What should i expect? It will be driven lightly, 5K a year.

They're expensive as hell to own. Sounds like a good deal though. Pending condition. Get a PPI.

Thanks, planning to take it to my dealer to check service history and do an inspection. Looks like i still have 8K miles until warranty expires and if i end up purchasing it i will purchase an extended warranty then.
Anything CPO with 30-40K miles are over $65K..

Yeah tell me about it. I was originally told that my X had extended warranty and extended service... So, I purchased without an independent PPI... It wasn't the WORST move ever, but come to find out it only has extended service attached to the vehicle, the warranty remained with the previous owner.

Bad call on my part, but so far the vehicle has been fairly good to us.

How many miles did it have when you purchase it? The only thing that i am worried is the high mileage, 42K, and wonder if starting now problems will arise...

I have 94,000 on my and no issues to speak of other than maintenance. 42K sounds like they haven't even broken it in yet. Have you test drove the car yet?

I think it is priced reasonably.. I see a bunch of Ms in that price range. You can get a 2012 with less than 50K miles in $34-35K range. A couple grand more for M-Sport. 46K for a X50i with all the options is still expensive if you ask me.

It is an M...and i have not seen anything close to 50K for a 2012 and 40K miles. They are priced around 60K

If you can get an X5M for the price of a non-M, that would be a steal. Did you get the car checked out? The assumption is that it's priced incorrectly, but is that really the case or is there a reason for that pricing?

Got it checked out, looks and runs great, clean 1 owner history. I have not done an independent inspection yet. I will have 5 days to do that.
What i was unsure about is the high mileage, 42K, and if problems are starting to arise now...

I'm looking at the CarMax web site now and don't see this one listed. Do you have a link?

It does not show on the carmax website as it is reserved, shows it is sold. Here's a link from another website showing the car and vin http://www.usedcarsgroup.com/used-20...gy0c50clk27309
As i said before i am not familiar with the issues that might arise at this miles, 42K..

Sorry I'm so late to reply... Our X5 is a 2010, had 31K miles on it when we bought it, a local car too. I paid $50K for it. I think I overpaid a little bit, but I was running out of time to get my wife into the X (all of the other vehicles I was considering started to sell all of a sudden, and we traded a '14 328d and I wanted it to go before any more mileage accumulated, and I was getting ready to leave the country for work for a while). Also, it had a few aftermarket goodies on it, things that I would've done myself, so to me, the mods were worth it. I figure the front lip and wheels/tires alone was almost $8k in mods. Plus a few other small goodies that I liked.

I recently picked up a 2010 X5M with 45k on the odometer from a BMW dealer in California for $44k with CPO also. Moderately optioned. Only things it didn't have that I would have wanted was the Drivers Assistance Package and rear view camera (which I was able to add easily enough via NAVTV for about $600+labor). Had the service hx pulled by my buddy at a BMW dealership confirmed it was a good unit that his shop would have in their inventory and would sell me IF they had one also. So I pulled the trigger. Had my local dealer check it over also and they've confirmed no issues or recalls either. Fingers crossed.

There are lower priced X5M cars out there but they were all around 60-80k on the odometer. So its up to you but if you hesitate too much you may miss out and it sounds like it doesn't get any better than what you may have found.

You keep stating high mileage, 42k miles on a bmw is not that bad. I got my 2012 3.5 with 41.5k miles for $35k (selling it though).

You a decent deal.

Exactly. Or get the 2012 and then trade it in for a 2013 X5M with LED lights, Side View Camera and Active Seating, which this specific VIN is missing. Plus you more warranty left while you shop for extended warranty.

Yes, i am worried about the high mileage, but mostly for the repairs that are associated with the high mileage. I was curios if someone experienced any major ones between 40-80 K miles
