Prevent A/C from turning on at startup?
New owner just a few months ago and still figuring out all the tech. One thing I can't figure out is how to prevent the A/C from turning on every time I start the vehicle. I read the manual but still stumped. Thanks.

Evidently it's unheard of to roll down your windows to cool off in Germany?
What's mysterious is that it stays off 1 in 20 times. I'm not sure what I'm doing differently to get this result.

^What he said.
Get your car coded. There are tons of cool things you can have done: Tailgate down with fob, side mirrors fold in on engine stop, speed on display between speedo and tach, disable TPMS etc. You can even have this done remotely - the coder sends you a cable, you plug it into your computer and the car and then the coder does it through a remote PC session.

This is normal operation, though as others have said you can do some custom coding and have that disabled. It's not just A/C either but your HVAC controls in general.
I'd recommend looking into some coding - you can make quite a few changes that will make your X5 more convenient & livable. And less annoying, like removing the iDrive disclaimers, eliminating the window and seatbelt chimes, etc. If you don't want to tackle it yourself, a lot of BMW owners have used Okee (www.codemycar.com). He'll send you the cable, files, and then do the work for you remotely. Below is a list of options you can change on the E70/E71 (you'll see the HVAC item you mentioned, #42) - http://www.codemycar.com/wp-content/...-CodeMyCar.pdf |
