Ruby Black BMW Individual color

Did anyone here try to order their X5 or X5M in Ruby Black Individual color? I am having a very hard time placing my order for it. I know that another member of this forum was able to order an X5 last year after writing a letter to the CEO of BMW NA, but I wanted to know if anyone else had any experience with ordering this color.

They are in fact...available...and they were available prior to Oct 11th as well. However, there is a difference between "available" and "hey, come on and get it if you want it". To draw a parallel, a 1984 Hyundai Excel can do 180Mph...driving down Mt. Everest with a Ferrari pushing it from behind.

Long story short, I am currently in my 5th week of trying to order an X5M Individual and the amount of red tape, people's stupidity and ignorance I had to deal with so far is UNREAL. I will post my experience when/if this nightmare is over and I am given an official confirmation of production. Regardless of the outcome, I will stay away from BMW Individual as far as I can for a very, very long time.

The fact that they rape you on the price turned me off to the whole individual idea. Is a color or different piping on leather really worth it?

If you have that much silly money make a donation to a local food bank. It will make you feel better than having a different fleck in your black paint.

Lost cause. There's feeding people in need, and then there's feeding corrupt people has 6 kids from 3 different families are taking their survivin' money away and are just looking for another way to be lazy. Unfortunately, more of the latter exists.

Get an individual interior. I'd say it's worth a lot more than a silly exterior paint job.

The Individual paint shows up as an $1800 upcharge. Certainly a better deal than the $5k others paid before. The Individual Composition package is $7700 includes, paint, upgraded leather and some other bits.

Ask them to print out for you the Ordering and Pricing Guide, dated October 1, 2011.

Update:

I finally got my Ruby Black X5M about 2 weeks ago. It was a long and painful struggle with the dealership and BMW factory. The color is beautiful, but its only visible if A.) The car is very clean and B.) It's a really bright and sunny day. Otherwise it looks black. Do NOT think it looks anything like whats printed in BMW brochures - it looks completely black from more than 10ft away.

I am going to post some pictures when the car is clean and its sunny outside.

Haha yeah the color is very tricky. I parked next to a 750li msport in a parking garage, and it looked black. I saw the same car (it had the same veteran's plate) a few weeks later in the sun and was pleasantly surprised to see it was ruby black.

I own a ruby black X5 and a carbon black F10 as well. When I park both next to each other, the difference is subtle but definitely noticeable.
I think that the ruby black X5 has a hint of extremely dark brown (overcast conditions).

Very classy and unusual color though. I will post some comparo pics ruby-carbon later this year when the sun is back (april? )

I've seen it one time, on an M6. It was hard photographing the color shift but a neat color.

Pics do not justify this colour... I saw one yesterday at the dealer... He told me it was "Black Cherry"...
