Has anyone had actual experience with bimmerdirect’s products (NOT bimmertech), specifically their MMI boxes or screens for BMWs?

I was researching them and it seems like there aren’t that many reviews. But they advertise they are US based, 3 year warranty, and use German Inova Apix chips, which they say is apparently the same brand of chips BMW uses? I know generally all these units are more or less the same except the firmware, support, and warranty. It seems like bimmerdirect is trying to differentiate from the andreams, road tops, etc. that they have a better product that’s more stable with US support, but without the bimmertech prices.

They seem relatively new and any reviews I’ve come across on Reddit/YouTube seem like it’s from the same few people. Anyway, was just curious and wondering if more people here have heard of or had direct experience with them?

Did you ever get a screen or box?

Im in this same exact boat I need a screen and want something of quality while not splurging on the $1k units that might have the same quality as the $200 temu devices.

I just came cross bimmerdirect today and after researching for months they seem like my first option right now

I did end up getting a box, but not from bimmerdirect. I ended up snatching a lightly used bimmertech mmi pro for a good deal.

Honestly it could all be in my mind, but after looking into it and searching a lot, I didn’t feel comfortable going with a brand that no one had really heard of. I was only able to find a couple reviews out there on bimmerdirect, and the Facebook page also didn’t seem like it had much activity. Maybe it’s because the brand was established in 2022, but I felt more comfortable going with something that many others had experience with. That way if the manufacturer / vendor couldn’t support me for some reason, there’s always a lot of people on the forum that could potentially help. That was my thought process at least.

As far as branding goes pretty much all of this stuff is sourced out of China, the seller's only involvement being to act as an importer. Going direct to the source via AliExpress will save you money, you just want to see legitimate reviews first.

I figured. I’m willing to spend a little extra on a warranty and decent customer service if I need it. I’ve been driving myself crazy debating on where to buy this damn screen.
