Buy 2012 X5 35d Dealer Loaner for $48k?

I am thinking of trading in my 2010 X5 for the 2012 X5d. The dealer nearby has exactly the one I have thinking about. The MSRP is $65,895. It has 14k miles on it. I understand the concerns around buying a dealer loaner and all. But, the 35d with 3rd row are hard to come by.

The dealer is asking for $48k. Does this seems like a good price for a 2012?

Thanks and appreciate the feedback.

I paid under $56k (in RI) for a new (4 miles) X5 D that had a list of $64+k. No third seat as I think it is more of a nuisance since you can only put two small kids in there and if you need cargo you have to take them out and store them somewhere in your garage. (not the kids the seats) You also sacrifice the spare tire option You be the judge on the price but I do not think it is a great deal. It's ok but not great.

Well, the sales guy just sent me the final offer of $47k. it is around $19k below MSRP. My only hesitation is that it is a loaner with 14k miles on it. I have searched around all the dealers in the 100 miles radius and this is the cheapest I could find with the options it has, even when I compare with other with similar milage.

One positive on this used car is that it has not been titled and I am assuming it will help just a bit during resale.

Thanks for your response.

That's about $7K off for an early model '12. The reason it's only $7K off is that anyone can order what they want for about $10K off MSRP so you could order EXACTLY the truck you want (and have it built in less than 20 days) for $7K more with ZERO miles on the ODO and a November Build.

Makes sense. The problem in the Dallas area is that none of the dealers want to discount the X5d much or willing to negotiate.

I'll run the numbers again with the new and this one and see where that ends up.

Thanks for the response.

There are BMW dealer's on this site's sister site, bimmerfest who can provide you a competitive price and arrange delivery in your area. Look on there for more details that will help you get a competitive price

The third row seats fold into the car.

OP, have you thought about doing a national search and having it delivered?

The local dealer is willing to give me $1500 (holiday) + $4500 (eco) + $3500 (dealer discount) + $750 (loyalty - if I finance through BMW). So far it looks good.

Now the issue is that the more I read about the Adaptive Drive, the more I want it. The local dealer don't have it in stock and I can't order 2012 anymore.

How does one do a national search? I think I tried BMWUSA website and did not see an option to search for new.

Thanks!

You can ask the dealer to do it. My local dealer only had a few X5s on the lot. The CA asked what I was looking for and did a search. Got a couple of hits. He showed me what the shipping costs would be and how much it would cost with the applicable discounts they had.

How can you get an ECO credit? I purchased mine in February and thought the ECO credit is not available anymore? Is this a federal ECO credit or BMW credit?

To my understanding, it is from BMW.

It's not the federal program. That one is well over. This is BMW's promotion to move the balance of the 2012s. They simply call it an "Eco Credit" but the reality is that it is simply an additional $4,500 discount that can be "tacked on" like the financing and USAA credits to reduce your cost. You will see it referenced on a lot of these boards. It is (NOW) also available for 2013 diesels but it has been reduced to $3,000

I think is a good deal, just ask for the Carfax yo make sure is clean and try to see if he can included CPO warranty to 6yrs or 100k miles

I work in a BMW dealer selling them and it is a good deal without the extended warranty but it does not hurt to ask, enjoy it if u end up buying it, i enjoy my 12Diesel
