Vibration at 40mph
Getting a vibration at 40mph on the dot. Kinda like a rumble. Started when I had 20's I changed them out back to stock 18's assuming it was the bad tires in my 20's BUTTT problem still persist and my 18's are balanced a With good tires....
Any suggestions? Front end issues? |

It's not like a front or back thing. Just basically in the steering wheel I feel it. It was happening with both my 20's and also now with my 18's so I'm assuming it has to be something front end wise.. I thought it was my last set of wheels but apparently not since now the problem moved to my stocks.. I was thinkin tie rods? Also I haven't done an alignment in along time

An alignment would probably be the next step. Unfortunately alignments and tire balancing is the only thing I have run into that hasn't been covered by the BMW prepaid maintenance.

Ok I recently did all 4 control Thrust arms as my mechanic told me my bushing were pretty much shot so i thought that was my vibration issue. Installed everything vibration is still there and comes on at exactly 41mph.. I still have aligned wheels yet. Could un even tire wear be the issue? I mean the tire wear isn't horrible but it is alittle worn on the edges

Ok update... I did an alignment along with a more thorough balancing of the front wheels and the vibration still occurs very strongly at exactly 41mph. Especially if left steady at 41mph with firm throttle position, I've maybe thought about tie rods now although my mechanic told me they didn't look or feel bad but crap what else could it. Be!!

Just thinking out loud here.
Is the vibration at a fixed speed or in a tight RPM range? Check your RPM at 40 MPH. Then put it in spot mode and hold it in each gear at that RPM. Check your brakes. Look for a warped rotor or a hung up caliper. Bent axle? Sorry to just throw out a bunch of thought. It is very hard to diagnose issues like this remotely. |

Have you looked at the CV joints or any type of u-bolt. Sounds like it has to be on someting that spins at the correct rpm to occur only at 41 mph.

I'm not mechanically inclined on the more thorough things so I'll let my buddy read this as he checks out my car.. My brakes are going bad and need a change but I don't see how that would reproduce a vibration without me even touching the brakes. Thanks guys

So checking back in and I changed out the GUIBO which was an annoying job. And guess what problem still persists. Still At 40mph inclusive I also feel it when pressin down on accelerator reaching 75-80mph.. and I'm gettin the feeling that the truck is acting a bit sluggish on the pedal
