I reckon the OP is in Australia, along with me. Us lucky buggers have had the diesels since the E53 X5 (way back in 2003). They sell very well here. Black vs chrome grill in the Oz market is usually 4 vs 6 cyl (3 / 5 series) or 6 vs 8 (X5).

Hey guys....yeah, I'm in Melbourne, Oz.
It's a 3.0D. GREAT car to drive...love it.
Wheels are a bit scarred from the boss's X....so thinking of having them powdered gloss black when the tyres need replacing.
Have thought about black grilles also....but I think I like the chrome trim.

I wouldn't go powder coated gloss black, screams of 'try hard'.
Looks nice the way it is, or matt dark grey imho.
