IPOD Question

I have a 2013 x5 with Nav, I currently use bluetooth audio via iphone 5, I have an ipod that I would like to use, I would have to buy a Y-cable. Question is if I hook up the ipod with Y-cable will I be able to see a playlist and scroll to select my desired music in library.

I have an E70 w/ Navi. It will show play lists from my iPhone 5. I have to put the apple adapter on the 30 pin plug in with this phone.

Are you referring to supplied apple white cord? Also are you able to scroll threw music and select songs?
