Megan Supremo muffler for e70 X5M

Just fit the muffler on. First impressions are that it is quieter than just having tips (obvious results), the rumble is nice, has a nice growl and you can still hear the turbo spool. It's not as obnoxious as just having tips on, with catless downpipes.

Gotta upload the sound clip on YouTube...will post that soon.

Any clip for video sounds? I was going to put borla XR1, cut the oem big muffler in the back and also get rid of the resonator. Just srtaight pipe and borla XR1 each on the side.

I will get a clip, I got one but it's just of me giving it a few taps on the pedal to hear the spool.

Yep, only catless Downpipes and this muffler...rest of exhaust is stock.

Drove around while running errands. I have to say that I am impressed with the muffler. It's quiet at low rpm and crackles at the top end. It's got a really nice rumble to it also.

Ended up ordering this exhaust after I saw your post on Facebook. Can't justify spending thousands on an exhaust when this improves the look and has a nice sound as well. Also removes a significant amount of weight.

I'm wondering what it would sound like with the resonators removed - maybe too raspy and might have a drone? Could also install some electronic cutouts before the resonators at some point to get that wide open sound which is the route I may eventually take. I want to have it sound somewhat civilized for normal driving as I sometimes have to pick up clients for work but also want to have the ability to make it LOUD on occasion as well. Seems like the cutouts will give the best of both worlds.

You could use cutouts that are similar to the stock exhaust and are vacuum controlled. I think with this muffler it matches nicely with what you'd expect from a platform like this in all senses. I'm happy with it, but the cut outs would also be a great idea.

Which one did you order? Meaning which tips...the chrome, titanium or black (like mine)?

Btw I saw your signature says you have the ptp turbo blanket....any review from you about it? Pics? I've been on the fence for it

I ordered the black tips because I'm wrapping the X5 pretty soon in 3M Satin Dark Gray and I think the black will compliment that well. Also like the fact that the black tips will take longer to look dirty and cut down on some polishing time.

As far as the PTP Blanket it works great. I don't have the stock heat shields installed around the downpipes and the blanket certainly helps keep the heat where it should be. You can basically put your hand on top of the turbos after driving - that is how effictively it keeps heat in. It also looks pretty good which is a plus.

That looks amazing...the only thing I worried about...which not even be a problem is keeping the heat in the valley of the engine...between the two banks. Does that do anything adverse?

The stock heat shield does the same thing so I don't see how this is any different. If anything it keeps the heat in the hot side of the turbos and goes down over the top of the downpipes. I've been running it for over a year now and it's been great.

Ok yea that makes sense. I'll get it.

Sounds great, Looks horrible. That fitment is pretty bad as the tips are sticking way too out of the diffuser and are pointing downwards. Maybe needs tweaking? i'll be going with Supersprint Race or Redstar when the time comes.

Forgot to ask, is the stock heat shield able to still fit ontop this?

You like the tips pointing downwards and not straight and then sticking out that much? Cool.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Red Star...I don't see where Supersprint has an option for X5M...unless they do outside the US...

I appreciate the OP's post, I really like how you wrapped (or didn't) the corner trim on the rear bumper...

I really don't understand why you are so insulted or agitated by it.

I'm not shoving this muffler down your throat or telling you to get it.

Thanks for that view...very nice. Did you wrap the diffuser? If so, any film issues with heat from the exhaust?
