New guy with an E70 diesel...modding begins

Since the pictures I have got fender flares, gave the tail lights a slight tint, the front kidney grills I replaced with all black BMW performance ones, lowering springs are sitting in my garage and I have OEM rockers(i hate the dirty pants running boards) on the way and I have weather tech mats for all three rows and the cargo area. I have a tune from The ECUProgrammer in Calgary Alberta it really woke the engine up. Future plans are to remove the DPF and get a retune.

Stock

A couple mods

I have a couple other cars in the stable nothing fancy though.

A GMC Sierra with a 6.2L I have a tune on this one too, it has a leveling kit that is 2.75" on the front and the rear was brought up about an inch.

And my "fun car"

I know it wont be everyones taste...Its a twin turbo G35 with over 700hp it has a fully forged internal 3.8L with Twin GT3071

Are those OEM wheels on your x5, or replicas?

Dedicated winter tires would not make any sense for me so I bought the DWS's for my '12 X5d and would welcome a private opinion from someone with them. Are they as good as the reviews say they are in the snow?

Thanks in advance!

Yes they are DWS, honestly I am very impressed with them in the snow. So far I would have to say they are every bit as good as the reviews say. I do plan to run them this winter then in the summer I will pick up some aftermarket wheels and run the DWS on them and put true winter tires on these wheels likely 275mm all around. I have had them in some deeper snow and they did good that's the one issue I see the tread lugs aren't very deep vs a deticateted winter tire.

http://www.ecuprogram.com/.

I am very happy to have found them, I have dealt with many tuning shops over the years and so far these guys are among the best. The two guys running it both are X5 guys the one just sold his E70 48i and the other has an X5M. The prices seem fair and they have done great work for me.

They are reps, I wanted a cheaper used set as these will be the winter wheels. I had a couple deals on OEM silver wheels that fell apart and the last deal the guy actually had winter tires on the OEMs but he tried squeezing me for an extra $200 after I travelled an hour and a half to get them so I wasnt going home with out wheels so I jumped on these ones.

I had some issues, with the air bags not inflating due to the vehicle thinking it was in transportation mode? Now that it's sorted out the ride is ok not the OEM ride I hear others talk about but where I live in Alberta the roads are likely far rougher than where most people live. I might raise the rear another1/4" some guys have reported the ride quality increases dramatically when they raise it a 1/4" over H&R specs. I also have the diesel and the 1.2" kit gave me a 2" drop. It rides good but certainly not like stock, I find it looks so much better than stock that it's worth the small sacrifice in ride quality....as long as my wife doesn't get sick of it.
