BTW, highway normally around 22MPG with my 50i.

Our Clubman S gets 29MPG in the city however.

Pffft! I'm averaging 19.1 (...or 400+ miles a tank; mixed highway and city.....my commute is less than 12 miles) in my 35i. Huge difference.

Get the smaller engine: you can always put an ATE OR K&N filter kit on it.

Pffft... I had a 328i loaner and got 19. So the commute has everything to do with it (mine apparently a lot more stop and go than yours). As noted - by others as well as the EPA, the 35 is about 2-3mpg better.

I should also add that my 1M gets 14.5 in the same commute. But I think I know why on that one...

If my commute were longer and didn't have as much stop and go (..I take surface streets to the station), I'm sure that I could get into the low-mid 20's consistently.

Any pics of your 1M?

Not to hijack the thread...but you did ask
The car was delivered from Boston by a retired Canadian Couple with Intercity Lines. This is the wife pulling the car off the truck into my driveway. I can't remember her name however!
