I guess they still didn't figure out the launch control

No mention of whether the car was in M mode (not sure if that affects 0-60 in the X5M/X6M though) and didn't mention launch control at all, which launches the car at 4K RPM. I bet it would have done even better.

On a car with a tradition automatic transmission, LC is a novelty. Granted, it does hold the revs just shy of stall on the M, but it does little else. The same auto up shifts can be attained in Sport mode.

I do like that the Jeep's LC temporarily changes multiple settings with the simple push of a button - the equivalent of putting the X5M in M "power" mode, shifting the trans to sport, activating EDC, and putting the stability program in full off. Then all the settings revert back to their previous mode as soon as the launch run is finished or aborted. Plus, it lets you know you've initiated LC and shows you how to use it on the dash display.

Anytime I've used LC in the X5M, it was a gamble on if it would activate. You have to hope you made all the right changes with the transmission position and DSC, but then you don't know if it activated until you attempt a launch.

Ultimately, if they are going to equip LC on a car, they should make it useful and simple to use.

they shouldve done their homework, its not that hard to launch the x5m if you follow the steps in the m book. anyways TFL car reviews holds no value in my book they are still amateurs and for some reason theyre the only reviewers who manage to get the slowest 0-60 times for every car they test

in the video you can see he wasn't even in m mode, x5m is still the king though

Why doesn't BMW invest in some Porsche style rear seats. The back seats in the X5 are like two perpendicular sheets of plywood wrapped in leather.

Hahahaha, I totally agree..very punchable! Lol

And honestly, if they can't figure out LC without a button blatantly stating it, then they don't belong in the X5M. Tools! Haha

I am surprised to hear that! I thought they looked nice, I was looking at the first generation SRT8 before I found my diesel.

Are you referring to the guy saying the SRT8 is junk? He said he had one so I don't think he is threatened by it.

as an example:

The brembo brakes are large in front.. so large.. if you get a flat on the front tires- the spare will not fit.. you must jack up the rear.. add spare, then add that rear tire to the front.. then proceed. so agree 65k is less money-- but in the end.. sounds like instead of giving you a normal spare-- you get a 65k work around.

and more reading material:

not here to flame.. just giving my opinion.

These guys are silly. How hard is it to push the "M" button? Let alone the LC. My data acquisition shows I've pulled 4.3-4.7 0-60s, and that was with a full tank of fuel and a passenger!

The cars are great fun to drive. See for yourself:

The LC in the X6M (and X5M) is not so difficult. Matter of fact, if you set your M button to Power mode, EDC on, and DSC to MDM, then all you need to do is hold the brake and accelerator at the same time, wait for checkered flag, and release the brake. Since I am in M mode all the time (which is just a memory setting, you could just set the car to all these settings all the time without having to press the M button) all I do is gas/brake and launch!

So effectively the launch control button in the SRT8 is a non-programmable M button. I don't understand why the confusion
