Obviously to each what he likes....
My reasoning is that i think the whole M 50d looks very long and I don't really like it. Also it is not the "M" so I don't want to call it that and without anything its kind of a wolf in a sheepskin.... (you probably cannot call it understatement as an X6 never really understates ).
You still have all the nice little M signs that look cool once you open it or get in like in the doors, steering wheel, gear lever, foot rest.

Having only had my X6 40d for a year and a half since new, I will be retaining all the factory fitted badging on my 50d as it has cost me about £4k a letter in depreciation!

Also, it's a diesel M car - not only through its livery ('sports trimmed' models also get the livery) but through the addition of a comprehensive power (the most powerful BMW diesel engine ever) and handling set up, unique to the model and taken from the petrol M cars, which is activated via a sports switch. That's pretty close in my book.

I think it looks better debadged
On the other had the performances of the 50d are superior to those of 40d + non run flat tires

So does anyone know what real world city and highway mpg have been for people that own the x5/x6 50d?

Have had my X6 M50d for almost a month now and have returned 26 mpg on combined driving. Hope that helps.
ps. I have a lead right foot ;-)
