X5 head unit problem

Hey guys, lovely forum you got here.

Im relatively new to BMW had mostly english cars before so would really appreciate if you could help me out.

I purchased a new head unit (aftermarket) and tried fitting it in, plugged everything in and it wouldnt power up, i then plugged in original unit back and i get nothing on the screen at all, it just lights up and all buttons light up but nothing at all on the screen and no sound... i have tried taking fuses 7, 73 and 75 out to no avail any ideas what else i can try to remedy the issue?

Many thanks

Do you have any details on the unit you tried installing?

Found what the problem was..it was standing behind the screwdriver...need an eye sight check..
One of the fuses was actually blown...dumass...

Anyways, all working now, does anyone know what is the best way to drag a cable to the back of the head unit, where is a hole that can be used? Can i throw it via glove box some how? Is there another point of entry? Cheers!!
