Xeneflo HID xenon bulb upgrade from bimmian

hello everyone, I just want to ask if anyone from this forum tried or has this HID bulb upgrade for their headlights. I am considering to buy this set but before that i would like to know your opinion. And another thing that concerns me is that, do I have to buy a new ballast for this upgrade or the oem ballast will suffice? and which color should I go 6000k or the 8000k?

Any comments will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The only hid bulbs you should even consider are the Osram CBI's. Easily the best bulbs out there. They are oem quality and 5000k in color with an output of 4300k. So a pure white light with no loss of output. They are normally $200 a pair and you can get them at places such as www.theretrofitsource.com. I have used them in my past three BMW's and wouldn't use anything else. Check out my journal for a mini write up on them.

In addition, the Osram night breaker is not as cool (colour temperature) as the CBIs, but they don't lose the lumen output like all these aftermarket bulbs.

I'm running the CBIs now, in the rain, the 5000k temperature just doesn't provide the same contrast as a warmer bulb. I've been thinking of switching to the night breaker

The bi-xenon part is just a shutter on your projector that moves to reveal the high beam. These bulbs will work perfectly for you. Go for it!

Do these bulbs increase lumen out put over stock? Trying to determine if they are an "upgrade" or simply a cosmetic change.

The CBI's maintain the same output as oem. So a pure white light with no loss of output. Normally going up in color looses out put.

If you don't want a pure white light it's best to just stay with the oem bulbs, which are 4300k and made by osram as well.

any experience with the night breakers? They are 4100K - supposed to give you 20 meters greater distance, 70% greater output over OEM.

No experience with them personally, but they seem like the way to go if you are not after the pure white look. Heck I might even give them a go just to check them out.

Fake or Real?

What is the difference between OSRAM XENARC 66140 CBI TO OSRAM XENARC 66144 CBI?

The reason I asked this because I ordered from ebay a set of OSRAM XENARC 66144 CBI but when I received my order, it was OSRAM XENARC 66140 CBI. Is the item that I received fake? almost CDN$ 200 including shippping from UK.

Did it come in original Osram boxes? The part number is definitely off. Use places like www.theretrofitsource.com to be sure you get the real deal. Never know with eBay...

FYI.
I just got a response mail from Osram on a mail I sent before xmas.
He said also that these bulbs indeed was the same. 66140CBI was the old number and its now called 66144CBI with no modification to the bulb itself.

Didn't know that. Maybe check out the other vendors who sponsor hid planet. That forum has always helped me in the past. It's a great source for all things lighting.

Good luck with everything!

Just received a pair of the Osram 66144CBI from theretrofitsource. Now on the box it says up to 5500 KELVIN. I thought these were 5000K??? And I've also seen packaging saying 5000k. Any thoughts?
