COBB tuning just released their N54 tunes for the 135/335/535... They are working on the tune for the N55 135/335... Anybody here on the X5 forum that lives Texas want to go to Cobb and provide a copy of your ECU's rom for them to start work on the N55 X5/535 tune? If anyone is near by to COBB this would be a big help in getting them to start on our models.

AustexX5, you can contact Rob@Cobb on the forum, just send a PM, or call Cobb tuning at 866-922-3059. I also know they are downloading ROM's from the ECU at the Plano Tuning facility...

1200 Placid Avenue
Suite 550
Plano, TX 75074
(214) 291-3020 Phone

For more info on the tuning they are offering for the 135/335 platform, look at this extensive thread:http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472813

Some impressive numbers on the Dyno. And it's all just a flash away

AustexX5, keep us informed if you are able to to assist Cobb in any way. Thanks

I don't have anything to update when it comes to the DP's... Since no one local to AR was able to take their X5 to them for test fitment, their have been no developments in this regard...

As for Exhausts. The only route I have been willing to go is a custom jobs. I am currently waiting on Matt@Camber-toe to schedule some time with me to get the job done, but this constant snow every week makes scheduling a pain in the butt.. I know REMUS has an exhaust for the X5...

http://www.remususa.com/epages/remus...cts/0893071549

It'll run you about $1250... Yes It will work on the '11 X5's, as we have a single 3" pipe that gets split by the monster of a muffler that comes stock, anybody willing to try one out?

As for the Tunes... I still am running the JB3 tune (because of work and weather I have been unable to provide install pics for BMS). It' works flawlessly... I have turned the boost down on it though, as it has sucked the gas out of my wallet even more so than when I wasn't tuned.

The Problem with the X5 35i & N55 535's is this: We don't have a Traditional ECU box like the 135/335's. Most of you know (if you had a 135/335 previously) that their is a white ECU box on the passenger side of the car. On the X5 there is nothing there, just wires. This presents a problem of finding the CAN bus wires. Now I have it on good authority from Vishnu that they are working out which wires are the CAN bus wires and are developing the V5 to work with the X5. Not only did they have an issue with the wiring, but they are having an issue with how the X5 / 535's are issued commands by the ECU, it's a totally different programming than what is used by the 135/335's.

It may have to do with the fact that we have 8 Speed Tranny's, but that's my speculation.

Vishnu assured me that they will have a product for the X5's soon... (I hope it's soon I have a procede V4 from my 335 days, that's being used as a paperweight).

As for BMS/JB4. Terry hasn't really gotten any STG 2 work done for the N55 crowd overall. The 135/335's will get a product before we do, as he may have to custom suit the JB4 for the X5/535 crowd like Vishnu is doing...

Cobb has introduced themselves to the 135/335 crowd and once they establish themselves their they will jump to the N55 crowd... I don't know if Austerx was able to provide a copy of the X5 ROM to Cobb, but I hope he was able to so that they can get to work on supporting us in the near future.

I hope this answers some of the questions out there... I wish the Mods would sticky this, but it's probably not on a high enough status list...

What I would ask of those who have shown interest in this thread, and possibly are local to AR design, to donate your X5 for a prototype Down Pipe production. Not only would you get a free DP out of it, but it would open the doors for the rest of us...

Thanks for the update. Great info! Definitely interested in a bit of boost increase once it gets ironed out.

I'll be taking delivery of my 2011 X5 35i February 24nd. Looks like AR is about 10 minutes away, I'd be happy to get them access for down pipe design.

Do you have any specific contact there?

Not really a specific contact. I was PMing ar design on here... let me see if I can link there forum name to the thread:

http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/member.php?u=32642

You can PM them and see if they still want to work with an N55 X5 for DP development. I will PM them myself and tell them to look out for you in the next month for possible development of the DP... Forewarning, they may need your SAV for upto 2 weeks... Not sure if that'll fly with you, but you guys will hash that out.

I really hope you can do this once you get your SAV, this will open up new possibilities for the X5 N55 crowd...

If Remus has their part listed as 07+, would it not be safe to say that all of the other manufacturers producing rear mufflers work for the 11+ as well?

According to their website:
http://oetuning.com/index.php/produc...35i-3-0tt.html

They already have a product out for the X5 35i.... $690... It's a wonder we haven't heard anything about it... I wonder if their numbers are accurate, I don't see any dyno info up or anything...

I'd be curious to know how they got around the Comm issues that all the other Tuners seem to have problems figuring out...

I spoke with the owner of OE tuning for almost an hour last week. He said it is listed, and they have a tune. However they are still tweaking things before they can release it to the public. I also will say that OE has an amazingly impressive advanced tuning facility. IMHO if anyone has the ability to figure out all of the issues it would be them. They have a long history in the automotive industry specifically with tuning OEM chips for Bosch and some others in Detroit. They are not just some CPU nerds that "figured" out different maps. I will be using their tune, as soon as all of the glitches are worked out. If I was not on the East coast my vehicle would be there for R&D. Someone should try to get their vehicle over there, those guys are official!!!

A flash tune is definitely interesting.... Seeing how I've done nothing but piggies (procede for the 335 and now the JB3 for the X5).

I'd be interested to know if OE tuning really is providing 80+ hp and 70+ torque. I'd like a lot more information on the tune:

-How long it takes for the flash to upload?
-Does it work similar to how COBB's tune works for the 335 (can I flash back to the stock map (and not a stock like map for service?)
-Are upgrades (maps based off mods) free or something we have to pay for?
-Is this something we are able to do at home, or do we need to see a dealer/tuner?

-Small glitch on the OEtuning site, they have the X5 35i listed as being powered by the N54... I hope that's a fat fingered mistake.

I'm holding off till I see some more options, before making a purchase. I also want something I can easily remove before taking in to the dealership for service.

+1.. I think that for what Terry offers is good (as a Stg 1 product). But I want more than a Stg 1 product. It's pretty easy to remove but looking at what's coming out for STG 2 for both BMS and VISHNU, I'm getting to the point where I'm going to be tired (or lazy depending on your perspective) of lifting the hood, removing all the extra stuff and then returning it to stock.
I would much prefer to not have to deal with connecting this wire, removing this wire and unwrapping it, then wrapping it here.... YOu get the point just to go into the dealership for an oil change (of course I could just go to the indy shops who don't care what you've got).
I don't have much expereince with flash tunes (of course I've flashed plenty of computer bios's in my time). So i'm sure it's pretty much the same and that seems like a better solution. IT may not have the same capabilities as a piggy, and maybe it won't produce as much power, but I don't see myself taking this bad boy of an X5 to the track. Maybe when warranty runs out in 4 years, I will consider upgrading the twin scroll turbo, but for now a good stable flash tune would be sufficient I think...

I just want to get to 350 to the wheels. I won't keep it long enough to see the warranty expire. I'll have the next model they come out with.

Anybody interested in getting their N55 X5 tuned in the Florida Area? I got an interesting proposition from the tuners who tuned that N55 E90, but I can't do what they need, as I can't be without my vehicle for days on end... (baby, work, long commutes, college)... SO any floridians available to get your N55 X5 Tuned for FREE? Yes I said FREE, that' was the proposition a FREE tuning of the X5's ECU... Do I need to say it one more time. IT'S FREE...

For anyone interested in what I've had done... Finally got my Custom Exhaust installed. The link below has pictures of the 90% finished product. Still a couple more welds need to be done, but overall I'm very satisfied with the work. The welds are very clean, and it sounds pretty sick... I'll see if I can record some clips, and figure out how to post em up..

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...352216&page=70 near the bottom of the page you'll see the pictures
