Water pump and t stat price?

Looking to see what the price from dealership would cost to replace these two items. My dealership quoted me around $1500. Blew my mind!!

Having an Indy do mine right now. About $750 for just the pump using OEM pump. Add $75 for the T-stat. Not the most fun, but I have done it in the past in under 2.5-3 hrs.

I should clarify. Mine was on a 2008 4.8i. The electric pumps are 2-3 times as much if you have a N55 or similar...

Price should be 277.64 for Waterpump non electrical and 68.44 for thermostat, I also have a 4.8i. My waterpump is leaking through the bypass hole on front, which means its going bad.

Check with your dealer first. These pumps (I think from 2010 to 2012 model years) are failing left and right on the 3 liter turbos in lots of different models. I think there is a quiet "goodwill" replacement thing going on. My X5 3.5i water pump just gave out and the dealer replaced it free even though car was 5,000 miles out of warranty
I didn't even have to ask!

New pump has a different part number than the original pump so I supposed they changed what went into new production at some point.

I replaced it on my 335, bet it would be easier on the X5. First noticed the fan would just remain on high, then it just died. There is a bleeding procedure that is automatic on the 335, better have a strong battery.
Both parts ran ~$400

Water pump was finally replaced after a six month process.
First failure point was an engine overheat message on the idrive screen. Dealer diagnosed as a defective fan, fan was replaced.
The same overheat error message appeared again 2 months later. This time it was diagnosed as a defective fan relay.
Shortly after replacing the fan relay, the cooling fans would cycle on and off LOUDLY every few seconds. The cooling fans would cycle regardless of whether or not the ac was running, short and or long drives.
Dealer diagnosed as defective water pump.
All has been back to normal since the water pump was replaced and this was all covered under the factory warranty.
