Here's the difference -

2012 model year 35i/50i - build date started 4/11
2012 model year 35d - build date started 8/11 (or somewhere very close to that)

Based on the above, you'd never find a 2011 35i/50i with LED coronas, while you will find some 2011 35d's with them - people on this forum have them.
I don't mean to add to the confusion - my MY2012 X5 50i has a build date of 3/30/2011 .

In my research ("MY" stands for "model year"):
- All MY2012+ X5s have LED coronas
- MY2011 x5 diesels with build date 4/11 or later have LED coronas.
- NO MY2011 X5 non-diesel has a build date of 4/11 or later.

Yah most here use the 4/11 date, so that's what I used. When I was searching for X5's and running tons of VINs through the decoder, I did find a few 2012's that were built in the final days/week of March 2011.

boring out a wheel <2mm to fit the correct hub isn't exactly rocket science...

So with about a month's ownership, decide to throw in the towel on the X5. I am planning on going back to Mercedes. It has been a roller coaster of a ride with this X5.

If you're referring to the lack of LED coronas in your 2011, those weren't standard until 2012 models (some minor exceptions for the diesels).
In builds of 2011's made starting in April have the LED coronas. So it was a change made to late model 2011's. So you can find some 2011's that have LED coronas from the factory. All 2012's and laters have them.
2012MY production began in 04/2011 so all 2012MY with the exception of diesels had LED corona's. There were no 2011 LCI X5's that had LED corona's

You must have missed my other posts in this thread? 2012MY production began 4/11 (technically end of March 2011) for the gas models only. BMW didn't decide to just add LED coronas to diesels only…the difference is 2012MY diesels didn't start until 8/11. Therefore diesels built between 4/11 and 8/11, which were still 2011MY, got the LED coronas as all models got those starting 4/11. There's numerous diesel members here with build dates in that range with LED coronas, and they're 2011MY.

What happened? Was it the dealer you have to deal with or the actual X? It seemed like that dealer did the N63 campaign kinda quick. I thought it is suppose to be over 30 hours of crap to check, test, etc?

It was combination of both. I am a very impatient person especially when it comes to cars. First the dealer was the problem then turned out to be small little gremlins happening. It seems fine now after spending $2500 to fix the FRM module, RDC? Module and reprogramming the entire car which WASN'T covered under warranty

I'd be interested in your "plasti dipped" style 223 wheels.

Please PM me.

Thanks.
