Question for Winter

Hi guys,

I would like to know for this winter...

1) do you keep your spacer for winter or should I remove them?

2) summer tires I have 275/40/20 front and 315/35/20 rear.... and winter tires should I got 275/40/20 all around or ...

Thank you !

The BMW Style 214 are staggered and a full inch wider in the rear. You will have to look carefully at the spec of 275/40-20 tire you select to see if they can be mounted on an 11 inch wide wheel. It would also look "awkward", the tire may look stretched ...

A better strategy would be to find another set of wheels from an e70, like a non staggered size 18 or 19. You can even look at the the X5 e53 series for wheels ... They'll be cheap, but you'll have to bore out the center bore to 74.1mm for it to fit the e70.

I have the exact same setup you're discussing. I have a second set of replica 214s with 275/40/20 all around. It does look stretched in the rear, but the technician said there's no problem. I checked out the specs for Scorpions on the Tire Rack website, and the staggered rears were just slightly out of spec for the 275s. I already went through one full winter with them, and they worked great. While I would prefer 315 in the rear to be well within spec and keep the stock appearance, the 275s worked just fine. Winter's an ugly time anyway. You just need to be careful about potential curb rash.

Yes it is ok to use spacers during the winter, my advise is to just anti-seize the hub and the spacers. however consider how much crap is on the road, why do u want the stance only to throw up rocks and etc which causes paint damages on ur own car

if u want to do it, go for it, there aren't any technical issues that would arise from using a spacer in winter
