Newbie X5 Owner With Questions... And Pics!

Hey people...

Joining your clan tomorrow and picking up this beaut!

Questions....

1. How easy is it to add an ipod with on screen display?

2. Can I upgrade the rear lights to 2011 spec?

3. How DIY is it upgrading the front halo rings? Is there a replacement LED out there that does a good job otherwise?

Sweet ride dude! I almost got the same one in carbon black, but went with the 4.8 with reg sport package on the 20"s.

And for your third question, look up Angel Eyes. Should be plug and play.

Sorry for multiple posts, but yes. You can get the iPhone adaptor from the dealer that will allow use through the onscreen display. I know it works with iPhones and I think it also works with iTouch iPod. The device is about $250 from a dealer.

Or iPod Nanos. Look in the center console storage area for a USB jack and head phone jack. If both, the iPod connectivity is already there. You'll need the Y cable that plugs into the iPod.

PS: Nice ride!

Will the USB and y cable allow use through the nav screen?

My old iPhone (used as music player) is simply connected via USB and dropped in the storage bin. No adaptors, etc.
I am able to do basic things via iDrive, such as search for songs, REW/FWD, skip, etc.

You will not be able to control the iPhone via iDrive via Y-cable.

Correct, the Y cable allows full music integration, but no video. Newer versions (October '11 IIRC) went to a single cable and add album art.
iPhone voice communication is via Bluetooth. If you plug the iPhone to the Y cable, Bluetooth still works. I don't have the bluetooth music option.
But I have an older iPod I keep plugged into the car for music and just carry my phone around.
